BHG - History is not only about events, days, and months that mark the “golden” milestones of the nation, but also contains vivid lessons about patriotism, strong will and sacrifice of previous generations to gain independence and freedom for the Fatherland. Therefore, educating the younger generation about national history is always an important task.

During the historic days of April, when the whole country was looking forward to the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, more than 1,000 students of Yen Bien Secondary School (Ha Giang City) participated in a special flag-raising ceremony. Especially with the performances and scenes vividly recreating the resistance war against the US to save the country, students were shared by teachers and union officials about the historical significance of the reunification day. The extracurricular lesson really touched the students' emotions, helping them feel the losses and sacrifices of their ancestors, being proud of the heroic history of the nation, thereby arousing patriotism and gratitude.

Ha Giang City Youth Union members participated in a thematic activity and watched the film “Tunnels – Sun in the Dark”.

During the local education extracurricular class, more than 350 grade 12 students of the Specialized High School watched the historical film “The Battle to Protect the Northern Border”. The film realistically and emotionally recreated the heroic history of the nation, depicting the indomitable spirit and heroic sacrifices of previous generations to protect every inch of the sacred land of the Fatherland. After watching the film, the images of resilient soldiers, “living on rocks to fight the enemy, dying to become immortal rocks” and the warm love of compatriots left deep impressions in the students’ hearts.

In the past, in schools, History was often considered a secondary, dry subject that focused on memorization. But now, History - Geography is becoming a major subject that many students love. In the 2025 - 2026 school year, Ha Giang chose History - Geography as a compulsory subject in the 10th grade entrance exam. Teachers innovated teaching methods, combined with showing documentary films, simulation models, vivid images, organizing history competitions, "Ring the Golden Bell" competitions to learn about the Party, Uncle Ho, dramatizing, playing historical figures or inviting living witnesses to interact; organizing many extracurricular activities to visit the Bac Me Camp relic, Vi Xuyen National Martyrs' Cemetery, Provincial Museum... Thereby, helping students remember for a long time, understand deeply and feel authentically about history, homeland, country and responsibility to the Fatherland.

Along with history education in schools, the focus of Vietnamese cinema during the historic April days belonged to the film "Tunnels - Sun in the Dark" by director Bui Thac Chuyen. Youth union members and young people from armed forces units and schools in Ha Giang city were able to review the heroic historical tradition of our army and people in the great resistance war when watching the film during a thematic activity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification organized by the Provincial Youth Union. This is a creative and effective form of political and ideological education, suitable for the reception needs of today's youth. Through vivid visual experiences, youth union members and young people can easily access history, thereby arousing love for the homeland and community responsibility. At the Venus Cinema theater complex in Ha Giang city, many young audiences were excited to go to the theater to watch this film. Currently, the film has 5 screenings per day at most times to serve the audience.

History is not only on the pages of books, but lives in every heartbeat of the nation. When the young generation understands, loves history and is moved by the sacrifices and miracles of their ancestors, that is when history truly comes alive, living in the awareness, emotions and actions of today's young generation.
