Mr. Ngan Van Lon - Chairman of Trung Ly Commune People's Committee said that due to heavy rain lasting for many days, a large amount of rock and soil had collapsed into the boarding house (15 dormitory rooms) of Trung Ly Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities.

On the afternoon of September 22, the leaders of Muong Lat District People's Committee directed local authorities, officers and soldiers of the border guard station, and teachers of Trung Ly Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities to transport personal belongings and evacuate 214 students to the school's temporary classrooms (2 floors) to ensure student safety.

According to Mr. Lon, the school has 460 students in the dormitory. Today is the weekend so some students have gone home to visit their families, leaving 214 students behind.

"We are worried that if students return home at the beginning of the week, it will be difficult to accommodate all of them," said Mr. Lon.
