The first garbage truck was transported to Phu Hung Landfill area ( Ben Tre City).
The project has a total waste volume of nearly 15 thousand tons to be treated, including waste remaining in the factory area of Ben Tre Waste Treatment Plant (now the Solid Waste Incineration Power Plant). All of this waste will be transported to Phu Hung Landfill for treatment according to regulations on sanitary landfill, contributing to environmental protection and ensuring ecological safety for the area.
The project is invested by the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province, the construction unit is Minh Thong Trading Service Company Limited, the supervision unit is Ben Tre Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company. The implementation time is 30 days, the relocation is expected to be completed before April 30, 2025.
According to the construction unit, the waste transportation plan will be sprayed with biological products and chemicals to treat odors before unloading and transporting. When transported to the new landfill at Phu Hung Landfill, it will continue to be sprayed, wrapped and covered with tarpaulin on the same day to minimize odors affecting the surrounding environment.
After completing the garbage transportation, the entire landfill cell will be covered with a tarpaulin to close the landfill cell, returning the environment to its original state, without affecting the surrounding environment with odors or leachate.
