(PLVN) - On March 3, 2025 in Yen Bai, Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), Power Project Management Board 1 held a ceremony to launch the construction of the 500KV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line, the section passing through Yen Bai province.

Speaking at the construction launch ceremony, Mr. Pham Hong Phuong - Deputy General Director of EVN said that the 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line belongs to the list of important national projects, key to the energy sector, invested in construction to transmit the capacity of hydropower plants in the Northwest region and neighboring provinces to the national power system; reduce power loss in the transmission grid, increase the efficiency of electricity production and business of the Group; and reserve the need to import electricity from China.

Implementing the direction of the Prime Minister, Vietnam Electricity Group, Power Project Management Board 1 has focused all resources, closely following the Ministries, branches, and local authorities to implement the work in parallel and synchronously. Up to now, the investment preparation work has been completed, meeting all the conditions according to regulations to implement the construction of the Project.

Given the importance and urgency of the Project, right from the beginning of the year, the Prime Minister issued Directive No. 01/CT-TTg dated January 3, 2025 on proactive solutions to ensure adequate electricity supply for production, business and people's lives during peak periods in 2025 and the period 2026-2030, in which EVN was assigned to urgently start construction and strive to complete the 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line project within 6 months, and must be completed by September 2025 at the latest.

At the same time, it is requested that the leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, leaders of departments and branches of Yen Bai province; leaders of local districts and communes in the project area continue to pay attention to and direct the implementation of compensation, support, and resettlement work, and promptly complete the handover of the entire site of pole foundations and route corridors so that the Investor can organize and synchronously implement construction of pole foundations on the entire route to meet the project's progress.

Mr. Ngo Hanh Phuc - Vice Chairman of Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee committed that the arrangement of organizational structure in the province will not affect the project progress, coordination work will be carried out regularly to keep up with the progress.

At the same time, the Investor, Power Project Management Board 1 and contractors and related units are requested to strictly comply with the construction procedures and technical regulations, ensuring the highest progress and quality; closely coordinate with the departments, branches of Yen Bai province, and local authorities in resolving related issues and recommendations of the people;

Relevant departments, branches and sectors of the province need to perform well their state management functions, be responsible for closely inspecting and supervising the project implementation process, and at the same time coordinate and promptly remove difficulties and obstacles, creating the most favorable conditions for the Investor and construction units to successfully complete the project implementation tasks.

The Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV Transmission Line Project is a national key project that has been approved for investment by the Prime Minister. This is a 500kV double-circuit transmission line with a total length of 229.5km, with a total of 468 pole foundation locations. The project passes through 4 provinces including Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho and Vinh Phuc, with the starting point being the Lao Cai 500kV station and the ending point being the Vinh Yen 500kV station. The total investment of the project is more than 7,410 billion VND, arranged from a loan from the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) of 80% and counterpart capital of EVN of 20% of the total investment (before tax).
