Groundbreaking ceremony of the project to expand the training facilities of the Vietnam Women's Academy and the Vietnam Women's Museum

On the morning of November 21, 2024, the Vietnam Women's Academy and the Vietnam Women's Museum held a groundbreaking ceremony for the project to expand the training facilities of the Vietnam Women's Academy and expand the Vietnam Women's Museum in Gia Lam district (Hanoi). Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Women's Union Nguyen Thi Tuyen attended and chaired the ceremony.

Also attending the ceremony were: Ms. Do Thi Thu Thao - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Women's Union; Ms. Tran Lan Phuong - Vice President of the Vietnam Women's Union; Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Quang Tien - Director of the Vietnam Women's Academy; Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet - Director of the Vietnam Women's Museum; and leaders of the District Party Committee, People's Committee, departments, branches and sectors of Gia Lam district, Kieu Ky and Duong Xa communes (Hanoi).

Representing the leaders of the two units, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Quang Tien - Director of the Vietnam Women's Academy - said that the Vietnam Women's Academy , headquartered at 68 Nguyen Chi Thanh, Lang Thuong Ward, Dong Da District, Hanoi. The Academy was established in 2012 on the basis of upgrading the Central Women's Cadre School, which has a history of development since 1960, with the mission of training and fostering cadres of the Vietnam Women's Union, female cadres in the political system; participating in training high-quality, multidisciplinary human resources for the country; performing scientific and technological tasks, with priority given to research in areas related to women and gender equality.

The construction of the expansion project of the Vietnam Women's Academy aims to meet the requirements on area scale and facilities according to the provisions of the law on higher education for university standards, which has been allowed by the Prime Minister to add additional area after its establishment; will serve well the work of training and fostering, scientific research according to functions and tasks; create conditions for autonomy and implementation of the established development strategy, contributing to improving the capacity of national human resources.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Quang Tien - Director of Vietnam Women's Academy - delivered the opening speech at the ceremony.

The Vietnam Women's Museum , headquartered at 36 Ly Thuong Kiet Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi, was established in 1987, with the mission of enhancing public knowledge and understanding of the history and cultural heritage of Vietnamese women in life from the past to the present; developing the museum into a center for cultural preservation and exchange, contributing to the goal of gender equality and the advancement of women.

Regarding the Vietnam Women's Museum, after expansion, the project meets the development needs of a national-level museum in an advanced and modern direction to serve the needs of research, sightseeing, learning and cultural enjoyment of the public, as well as ensuring conditions to perform well the function of propaganda and education on the historical and traditional cultural values ​​of Vietnamese women, contributing to building new people in the period of integration and development of the country, meeting the goals of the Vietnam Cultural Development Strategy to 2030.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Presidium of the Vietnam Women's Union, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Women's Union Do Thi Thu Thao emphasized: The Vietnam Women's Museum and the Vietnam Women's Academy are public service units of the Vietnam Women's Union that have always performed well their assigned functions and tasks, with more and more innovations, making practical contributions to the overall achievements of the Vietnam Women's Union in recent years.

After a period of effort, seriousness and responsibility in implementing compensation and site clearance activities, with the facilitation, sharing and companionship of the People's Committee of Gia Lam district, Duong Xa commune, Kieu Ky commune; the close and effective coordination of the Gia Lam District Land Fund Development Center, the consensus and support of households in the communes, today the projects have started construction, hoping that the set goals will be completed soon so that the units can continue to perform well the assigned functions and tasks.

“The Vietnam Women's Union and the project implementing units greatly appreciate the sharing and companionship of the local government and people in the past time, and hope to continue to receive affection, support and assistance during the upcoming construction period so that the two projects can be completed as planned, contributing to creating new opportunities in tourism development and capacity building for the locality,” emphasized Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Women's Union Do Thi Thu Thao.

With the spirit and important meaning of building works to enhance capacity and contribute to building Vietnamese women in particular, Vietnamese people in general in the digital age, the age of equality and sustainable development, Permanent Vice President Do Thi Thu Thao suggested that the Vietnam Women's Museum and the Vietnam Women's Academy continue to closely coordinate with localities; assign personnel to take on the task of accompanying relevant units to closely monitor each item, urge, remind, encourage, exchange and share promptly to make the best use of practical opportunities to complete parts of the work to ensure progress and quality of the project.

Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Women's Union Do Thi Thu Thao also requested project management units, supervision consultants and contractors to properly perform their duties and responsibilities according to the contract signed with the investor to ensure construction progress and quality; comply with construction laws; ensure absolute labor safety and environmental sanitation; establish good relationships with local people to facilitate the construction process.
