Construction begins on the Cao Lanh Expressway Project.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang and other delegates performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the project.

On the morning of June 25th, the Ministry of Transport, in coordination with the People's Committees of Dong Thap and Tien Giang provinces, held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Cao Lanh - An Huu Expressway Project (component 1), phase 1, at the intersection with provincial road DT.850, in My Hiep commune, Cao Lanh district, Dong Thap province.

Attending the event at the Dong Thap location was Comrade Tran Luu Quang, Member of the Central Committee of the Party and Deputy Prime Minister of the Government.

On the Đồng Tháp province side, attendees included Lê Quốc Phong, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Secretary of the Đồng Tháp Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for the implementation of the Cao Lãnh - An Hữu Expressway Construction Project; Phan Văn Thắng, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Phạm Thiện Nghĩa, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Đồng Tháp Provincial People's Committee; leaders of districts, cities, communes, towns, and residents in the project area.

The groundbreaking ceremony was also attended by leaders from the provinces of Tien Giang, An Giang, Tra Vinh, Long An, Vinh Long, Hau Giang, and the city of Can Tho.

Phase 1 of the Cao Lanh - An Huu Expressway has a total length of 27.4 km. The starting point intersects with the My An - Cao Lanh Expressway in Cao Lanh District, Dong Thap Province. The end point intersects with the Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway in Cai Be District, Tien Giang Province.

The project is divided into two components. Component 1, with a length of 16km, is located entirely within Dong Thap province and has a total investment of over 3,600 billion VND.

Component project 2, spanning 11.4km, is located in Tien Giang and Dong Thap provinces with an investment of over 2,200 billion VND. The preliminary total investment for the project is over 5,800 billion VND.

The cross-section of the completed phase meets the standards of a 4-lane highway. The cross-section of phase 1 of the investment is a limited 4-lane road with a roadbed width of 17m and an operating speed of 80km/hour.

The project will be implemented from 2022 to 2027.

Previously, on June 24, 2022, the Prime Minister signed a decision approving the investment policy for the Cao Lanh-An Huu expressway construction project, phase 1.

Component project 1 involves 533 households located within the project area, with a land acquisition area of over 101 hectares.

After the compensation, support, and resettlement plan for phase 1 of the Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway was approved by the People's Committee, the Dong Thap Provincial Land Fund Development Center promptly disbursed funds to the people in the project area.

After more than a week of implementation, 513 out of 533 households in 8 communes of Cao Lanh district have received compensation and handed over land for the project, achieving a rate of over 96%.

Immediately after receiving the money, the households promptly relocated their houses, crops, and other structures, and began creating new livelihoods to stabilize their lives.

Currently, over 94 hectares of land have been handed over to the project, reaching a rate of 93%. In addition, 14 contracts related to consulting, insurance, mine clearance, and construction have been completed.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province, Pham Thien Nghia, delivered a speech at the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province, Pham Thien Nghia, expressed his hope to receive full support from the investor, contractors, design consultants, supervisors, construction contractors, and all the people in the project area so that the province can have a quality project, completed on schedule, and put into effective operation.

"Dong Thap province is determined to complete the remaining tasks and will closely coordinate with central ministries and agencies, Tien Giang province, and contractors to complete the project on schedule, as directed by the Prime Minister," Mr. Pham Thien Nghia affirmed.
