On the morning of September 26 (Havana time, the same evening Vietnam time), the wife of General Secretary and President To Lam, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly, visited Vo Thi Thang Primary School. Also present were Mrs. Lis Cuesta Peraza, wife of First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel and Cuban Minister of Education Naima Ariatne Trujillo Barreto.

Established in 1968, in a solemn space of the school, many images and artifacts about Vietnam were displayed, especially the photo of Ms. Vo Thi Thang with a "victorious smile" before the court of the Saigon puppet regime. This is also the place of study of many Cuban and Cuban students of Vietnamese origin.

Welcoming the two ladies from the school gate, the principal of Vo Thi Thang Primary School, Maria Elena de la Rosa Vidal, introduced the school, its history of formation and development, as well as the teaching and learning results of the teachers and students.

She expressed her emotion that the Party, State and people of Vietnam have always cared for and shared the difficulties of the Cuban people over the past 6 decades. That is the long-standing and sustainable traditional friendship between the two countries.

The school is committed to building increasingly more spacious facilities, constantly improving the quality of teaching to meet the needs of learning and be worthy of the affection of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, as well as the special friendship between the two countries.

Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly expressed her emotion when visiting the school named after the heroic Vietnamese revolutionary soldier Vo Thi Thang for the first time and was warmly welcomed by Cuban teachers and students with warm and friendly feelings.

According to the Lady, although Vietnam and Cuba are half a world apart, they have an invisible bond that closely connects them. That is the traditional solidarity, the special comradeship and brotherhood between the people of the two countries that President Ho Chi Minh, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro and generations of leaders of the two countries have constantly nurtured. The beautiful school named after the heroine Vo Thi Thang is a vivid manifestation of that loyal relationship and special affection between the two peoples.

Madam Ngo Phuong Ly wished the teachers and students of Vo Thi Thang Primary School to continue to strive to compete in teaching and learning well, to be well-prepared with knowledge to become future masters in building and developing Cuba to become more and more beautiful, to continue the work of previous generations and to constantly foster the solidarity and loyalty between Vietnam and Cuba.

The Madam hopes that the school will continue to follow the tradition, inherit the revolutionary career of previous generations, and constantly foster the solidarity and loyalty between Vietnam and Cuba.

During the visit to Vo Thi Thang School, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly seemed to blend in with the students here. The students also welcomed the two ladies in traditional Vietnamese traditional dress, holding the Vietnamese-Cuban flag and special performances.

Together with Mrs. Lis Cuesta Peraza, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly visited the computer room, a gift from Vietnam to the school during the visit of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in 2018. Here, the Lady heard information about the effective operation of the computer room, which not only serves the school's students but also serves as a place to improve the skills of teachers in the school and students of neighboring schools in the district.

Before leaving, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly and Mrs. Lis Cuesta Peraza met all the students and teachers of the school. The two ladies took a group photo, gave some gifts to the school and school supplies to the students.

A student of Cuban-Vietnamese descent, out of his affection for Madam Ngo Phuong Ly, boldly asked to hug and kiss her on the cheek. The Madam happily agreed, kissed the student back on the cheek and told him and his friends to try their best to study.

Here, the two Ladies listened to the Director of Heritage of the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana, Gladys María Collazo Usallán and the Director of the Theater - Museum of Puppetry El Arca Lizzett Talavera Calvo introduce the architecture of the Theater - Museum, about puppet culture and enjoy the puppet show "Romeo and Juliet".
