The moment the Vietnamese team celebrated emotionally when winning the 2024 ASEAN Cup championship on Thailand's field.
On the evening of January 5, the Vietnamese team won 3-2 at Rajamangala Stadium in Thailand, thereby winning the 2024 ASEAN Cup championship. The team won the final with a score of 5-3 and won the Southeast Asian championship for the third time in history. This achievement was not complete when striker Xuan Son had to go to the emergency room in the middle of the first half due to injury. In his absence, Quang Hai represented him to receive the Golden Boot award. At the ASEAN Cup 2024, Xuan Son scored 7 goals and 2 assists after 5 appearances. Duy Manh, on behalf of Xuan Son, received the title of Best Player of the tournament. This is also the first championship of coach Kim Sang-sik with the Vietnamese team. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team won the championship with an unbeaten record (7 wins, 1 draw), something no team has done in the 29-year history of the tournament, even the Thai team. The entire team will receive 300,000 USD (7.6 billion VND) from the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) with this championship. Up to now, the Vietnamese team has received more than 20 billion VND in rewards from units and businesses.
