The Ministry of Education and Training has announced the regulations for the 2024 high school graduation exam. Accordingly, this year's high school graduation exam will basically remain stable as in the 2020-2023 period, especially the same as in 2023. The Ministry of Education and Training said that it will only make some technical adjustments to the regulations to ensure consistency in the organization of the exam nationwide.
Specifically, this year, the Ministry of Education and Training clearly stipulates the subjects in the exam regulations to make it easier for candidates to register. To ensure priority for candidates to avoid confusion during the exam registration process, the Ministry of Education and Training notes that registration units are responsible for looking up information from the national population database to confirm priority according to the place of permanent residence for candidates; requiring candidates to be responsible for keeping their account and password information confidential.
Allowed and prohibited items in the exam room
Also in the 2024 high school graduation exam, the Ministry of Education and Training clearly defines the responsibilities of candidates during the exam. In addition to regulations on items candidates are allowed to bring into the exam room to serve the purpose of taking the exam, the Ministry of Education and Training has added specific regulations on items candidates are prohibited from bringing into the exam room.
Specifically, the Ministry of Education and Training specifies the items that candidates are allowed to bring into the examination room, including: Pens; rulers; pencils, erasers; squares; graphing rulers; drawing tools; handheld calculators without text editing functions and without memory cards; Vietnam Geography Atlas compiled according to the 2006 General Education Program (without markings or writing any other content).
Prohibited items to bring into the exam room: Carbon paper, erasers, alcoholic beverages; weapons and explosives, flammable substances; documents, communication equipment (receiving, broadcasting information, recording audio, video) or containing information to cheat during the exam.

Time candidates are allowed to leave the exam room
The regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training clearly state that candidates are not allowed to leave the examination room until the end of the multiple-choice test time. For the essay test, candidates can leave the examination room and examination area after 2/3 of the examination time has passed, and must submit their examination papers, test questions, and scratch paper before leaving the examination room.
In case of necessity, candidates may only leave the examination room with permission from the invigilator and must be under the supervision of the invigilator.
Candidates leaving the examination room or examination area in case of emergency must be supervised by the police and invigilators until the end of the examination session and decided by the head of the examination site.
Notes for independent candidates
In this year's high school graduation exam regulations, the Ministry of Education and Training clearly states the regulations for independent candidates, who only take 1 or 2 component subjects in the combined exam.
For candidates who only take the first and/or second component exam in the combined exam, after submitting the multiple-choice answer sheet (TLTN), candidates will leave the exam room and move to the exit waiting room until the end of the exam time of the last exam. During the process of moving to the exit waiting room and during the time in the exit waiting room, candidates must maintain order and strictly comply with the instructions of the invigilator or the manager of the waiting room/waiting area. In case of necessity, candidates may only leave the waiting room with the permission of the manager of the waiting room and must be under the supervision of the invigilator when outside the waiting room.
Candidates who only take the high school graduation exam with the second and/or third component subject in the combined exam must be present at the place where candidates are called to enter the exam room at least 10 minutes before the exam paper is distributed to prepare. If candidates arrive earlier (15 minutes or more before the exam paper is distributed), they must wait in the waiting room.
In the 2024 high school graduation exam, for candidates who only take the first and third component exams in the combined exam, immediately after the end of the first component exam, candidates must remain seated, maintain order, place the TLTN sheet so that the filled-in answer sheet is face down on the table at the candidate's seat, and keep the TLTN sheet during the entire time waiting for the next component exam.
