On September 20, Mr. Dang Hoang Tuan, Director of the Long An Department of Transport, said that the province currently does not have enough materials and accessories for printing driver's licenses, including ribbon, intermediate film, and printer cleaning cards.
According to Mr. Tuan, the reason for the shortage of raw materials is that bidding to purchase printing materials takes a long time.
Long An continues to extend the time to return driver's licenses to people who have completed the test.
On the other hand, the contract signed with the contractor was implemented from the beginning of July 2024, but up to now, this unit has not yet provided sufficient materials, leading to delays in returning driving licenses to those who have completed the test.
During this time, Long An Department of Transport hopes to receive the sharing and sympathy of the people, according to Mr. Tuan.
He said the Department of Transport is urgently implementing many solutions, "including borrowing materials from other provinces to overcome the above situation".
Mr. Tuan also said that he had worked with the winning bidder, and that by September 23 at the latest, they must provide all materials and accessories according to the signed contract, "otherwise the advance payment will be withdrawn and the contract will be terminated."
According to regulations, after students complete the test, people will be granted a driver's license within 10 working days at the latest.
Along with that, within 5 working days from the date of receiving complete documents in accordance with regulations, the Department of Transport must carry out the change of people's driving licenses.
