In the first time making history, U.17 Hanoi played beautifully. Coach Cristiano Roland and his team won all 6 matches from the group stage to the final. Not only that, U.17 Hanoi also won all individual titles such as Best Player - Dau Hong Phong, Top Scorer - Nguyen Viet Long - Dang Cong Anh Kiet, Best Goalkeeper - Nguyen Van Thang Long.
In a broader sense, Hanoi is proving to be one of the strongest youth training centers in Vietnamese football. In addition to the U.17 championship they just won, Hanoi has won the national U.19 championship 7 times and is the champion of U.21 6 times. In the lower age group, U.9 Hanoi also won the championship in 2023.
"We have 11 months to prepare and train hard for this tournament. The most important thing is that the players understand my coaching style and the way I convey it so that they have the desire to become champions. When we achieve this, the coaching staff and players celebrate. But we have to keep our feet on the ground and immediately prepare for the next stage ahead," said coach Cristiano Roland of Hanoi U.17.
Not only dominating the youth playground, Hanoi is also one of the teams that contributes many players to the youth teams as well as the national team. Therefore, it is not too much to say that Hanoi's youth training system is the bright spot of Vietnamese football at the moment.
However, to have a good player, strong enough to play the full 90 minutes is a long process. When they are only 9 or 10 years old, the children are carefully selected by Hanoi Club. They have to be away from their families, rolling around on the field with the ball for 9 or 10 years before they can participate in youth tournaments.
Throughout the process, the coaches play an important role in shaping and taking care of the players from the smallest things. Therefore, Hanoi Club always creates conditions for the coaches to go on training courses and study advanced training programs in the world.
In addition to the quality coaching staff, Hanoi Club also owns famous seniors who have become role models for the younger generation to strive to follow. People like Van Quyet, Thanh Luong, Hung Dung, Duy Manh, Thanh Chung... are shining examples for the young generation of Hanoi. More specifically, these players also regularly visit and guide the young players of the team.
The cases of Van Truong, Tien Long, Van Tung, Dinh Hai are the clearest evidence in continuing the tradition of generations of Hanoi Club. After the success in the youth tournament, they were promoted early to rub shoulders with their seniors, ready to shoulder the responsibility with them in V-League and further in the Vietnam national team.
The systematic work in youth football of Hanoi Club has brought sweet results in recent times. And that is also the answer to the problem of finding a way for the development of a football industry. Only when the clubs do a good job of youth training, investing appropriately for the next generations, then Vietnamese football can have long-term and steady progress.
