Rewarding many typical cooperatives in collective economic development

On the morning of April 9, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Cooperative Alliance organized a seminar to celebrate the 78th anniversary of Vietnam Cooperative Day with the theme "The role of cooperatives in building new rural areas and supporting members".

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien - Vice Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Cooperative Union said that there are currently 4,562 cooperatives in Thai Nguyen province, of which 345 cooperatives were established and operated under Decree No. 77/2019/ND-CP dated October 10, 2019 of the Government, with about 8,900 members and employees. The remaining 4,000 cooperatives operate spontaneously, without registration, with over 100,000 members and employees participating, to meet the needs of production development in localities.

There are currently 760 cooperatives in the province with over 42,500 members and employees, of which the number of cooperatives in operation accounts for over 80%. The revenue of cooperatives is estimated at over 3,150 billion VND, the average annual revenue growth rate is 10 - 15%. The average revenue is estimated at 6 billion VND/cooperative/year, of which the revenue for members is estimated at 4 billion VND/cooperative/year. The average income of members/employees in cooperatives: for cooperatives in the agricultural sector is 4 - 4.5 million VND/person/month, for cooperatives in the non-agricultural sector is 5 - 6 million VND/person/month.

The activities of cooperatives and cooperative groups have contributed positively to the success of the new rural construction in Thai Nguyen province. In recent years, the number of cooperatives in Thai Nguyen province has increased in both quantity and quality (570 cooperatives operating in the agricultural sector) with the scale of operation, revenue, and labor attraction of cooperatives constantly increasing.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Tran Nho Huong - Deputy Head of the Office of New Rural Area Coordination of Thai Nguyen province emphasized: Recognizing the role of cooperatives in economic development, Thai Nguyen province has paid attention to developing cooperation and linkage between enterprises, cooperatives, and farmers in production, building brands, and promoting the consumption of agricultural products. There are many policies to encourage and support cooperatives to develop production such as: Support for production linkage; support for safe and organic production; support for high-tech application, etc.

In the period of 2016 - 2023, Thai Nguyen province has supported over 140 agricultural cooperatives to implement projects to support the development of production linked to the value chain with a total capital of over 100 billion VND; arranged over 100 billion VND to support the construction of infrastructure for agricultural cooperatives. In addition, the province has supported and certified safe food supply chain products for 60 establishments with 61 agricultural product chains...

Thanks to that, in recent years, cooperatives in the agricultural sector have developed quite rapidly in both quantity and quality. From there, the efficiency of production organization in agriculture and rural areas has been gradually improved, forming concentrated agricultural production areas in the direction of goods, contributing significantly to promoting the restructuring of agricultural production, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, increasing income and building new rural areas in the locality.

At the seminar, delegates exchanged and discussed to clarify topics such as: The role of cooperatives in implementing the new rural areas; the role of cooperatives managed by women and creating jobs; the role of cooperatives in maintaining and developing craft villages; innovative start-up cooperatives associated with local potential and strengths; building and developing product brands, OCOP products and applying digital in management; developing the value chain of production and consumption of products associated with 3 national target programs; cooperatives diversifying products, improving competitive advantages, targeting export markets...

In order to complete the goals of the province's new rural construction plan for the period 2021 - 2025, as well as the viewpoint of "Ecological agriculture, modern countryside and civilized farmers", in the coming time, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Cooperative Union will continue to maximize the role of departments, branches and sectors in promoting propaganda, supporting the development of the province's collective economy and effectively implementing the national target program on new rural construction of the province.

In addition, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Cooperative Union will effectively implement the central and provincial support policies and mechanisms on cooperative development; promote and innovate propaganda and mobilization work to develop collective economy, multi-industry cooperatives, and advanced typical cooperative models; replicate the experiences of good production and business cooperatives; and focus on skills in production organization and management.

At the same time, build and replicate cooperative economic models associated with the effective implementation of the Project "Restructuring the agricultural sector, improving the material and spiritual life of farmers"; focus on investing in building high-tech production areas, developing organic agriculture and green agriculture.

On this occasion, 2 collectives and 7 individuals of Thai Nguyen province received Certificates of Merit from the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance for their excellent performance in 2023; 5 collectives and 7 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province for their outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Developing the collective economy of Thai Nguyen province" in 2023; 20 cooperatives were recognized by the Thai Nguyen Provincial Cooperative Alliance as typical cooperatives for the period 2021 - 2023.

In particular, at the seminar, Pho Yen Green Environment Service and Trading Cooperative was honored to be one of 30 cooperatives nationwide to receive the Emulation Flag of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance. In addition, Tan Phu Automobile Transport Cooperative and Tra Son Dung Cooperative received the Emulation Flag of the Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee.
