The three individuals awarded included: Specialist II Nguyen Dinh Thai, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine and Neurology; Specialist II Ho Thi Phuong Anh, Head of the Department of Hematology and Specialist I Trinh Viet Bac, Deputy Head of the Department of Intensive Care - Anti-Poison.
As reported by Dong Nai Newspaper, on February 22, patient LTT, 70 years old, residing in Phu Son commune, Tan Phu district, was admitted to the emergency room with rapidly progressing quadriplegia and swallowing disorder. After examination, doctors diagnosed the patient with Guillain-Barré syndrome with hypertension, sequelae of cerebral infarction, lipid metabolism disorder and sleep disorder.
Under the close direction of the Board of Directors of Thong Nhat General Hospital, the hospital's Hematology Department closely coordinated with the Hematology Department of Cho Ray Hospital to conduct plasma exchange for the patient continuously for 5 days, infusing 20 units of plasma each day. This is an important treatment method, helping to eliminate antibodies that attack the nervous system, preventing progressive paralysis.
After 5 days of intensive care and treatment, the patient gradually recovered, was able to move his arms and legs, improved his swallowing function and communicated better. To date, the patient's health has stabilized.
