VHO - On the morning of December 8, at the national historical site of Ho De Temple (Dong Cao village, Trang Viet commune, Me Linh district, Hanoi), the inauguration ceremony and handover of the project to restore and embellish the national historical site of Ho De Temple was solemnly held by the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Central Front Committee of Trang Viet commune.
Reporting on the work of restoring and embellishing the relic, Mr. Dam Van Cuong, Head of Dong Cao Village, said that Ho De Temple in Dong Cao Village belongs to the historical relic system of Hai Ba Trung Temple. Over the centuries, the temple has deteriorated.
On September 30, 2023, the historical relic of Ho De Temple in Dong Cao village started construction of the restoration and renovation project with an investment budget of about 50 billion VND. Along with that is the donation and merit of nearly 50 families, clans, benefactors, relatives far from home and all local people. Up to now, the restoration and renovation project has been basically completed and put into use.
According to Mr. Dam Van Cuong, Ho De Temple in Dong Cao village is a relic of special significance in the socio-economic life in general and the cultural and spiritual life of the people of Dong Cao village in particular. The joint efforts to restore and embellish the relic are a testament to the spirit of solidarity and attachment of the local people.
Dong Cao village has a long history and rich cultural identity. The historical relic of Ho De temple in Dong Cao village is a valuable place for traditional education, promoting solidarity and national pride, fostering the will and aspiration to build Dong Cao homeland to be more and more innovative, promoting patriotism, cultural and revolutionary traditions, promoting economic development, and building a new life.
Village Chief Dam Van Cuong expressed: "The ceremony of receiving and handing over the historical relic of Ho De Temple is an important milestone in 2024 of Dong Cao village. Hopefully, every Dong Cao child, no matter where they are, needs to promote the good values of the locality, always willing to contribute to building their homeland...".
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Trang Viet Commune People's Committee Dam Van Thin emphasized that Trang Viet is a land of revolutionary tradition. Over thousands of years of history, through dynasties, in any time and historical period, Trang Viet commune has had outstanding individuals who have contributed to the overall development of the national culture.
In that historical flow, the people of Trang Viet in general and Dong Cao village in particular have created many unique relics, which are precious cultural heritages that previous generations have passed down to us today.
According to the inventory of relics, in Trang Viet commune there are 9 relics, of which 7 have been ranked by the State, including 3 national relics and 4 city-level relics, along with 2 pagodas: Tay Thien pagoda (Trang Viet village), Phuc Tho pagoda (Dong Cao village) have been included in the City's inventory list.
"This is both an honor and pride for the people of Trang Viet commune, but at the same time it is also the responsibility of Party committees, authorities and people at all levels in preserving and promoting the value of historical and cultural relics," the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Trang Viet commune emphasized.
Ho De Temple is a national historical relic. The temple worships Lady Ho De - a talented female general of the Trung sisters' time who raised the flag of uprising to drive out the Eastern Han invaders, bringing peace to the people in 40 AD. She was appointed by the Trung sisters as Prime Minister, General of the Royal Guards, and Commander of the three armies. And on July 25, 1924, the 9th year of King Khai Dinh's reign, she was awarded the title of Trai Tinh Trung Dang Than.
In the past 2 years, the relic has received attention from all levels, sectors, and contributions from the entire population. The items of Ho De Temple, Dong Cao Village have been restored and embellished, along with rare historical artifacts of the temple and royal decrees kept at the temple. These are typical and valuable artifacts that need to be preserved, exploited and promoted, meeting the spiritual and cultural needs of the community and visitors from all directions.
The leaders of Trang Viet commune emphasized that with the attention of authorities at all levels and specialized agencies, the project of Restoration and embellishment of Ho De Temple relic in Dong Cao village, Trang Viet commune has been planned with a total area of about 5,187.7m2 , including the following items: Dismantling and evaluating the structures of the original relic (main relic); Restoration and embellishment of the main temple (Front Temple and Rear Palace); Left and right houses.
Along with that are auxiliary items such as leveling the ground, garden, fence, fire prevention, power supply system, water supply and drainage, termite control, technical infrastructure outside the house, gold-burning shrine, shelter, artifact preservation house, ceremonial gate, toilet... With a total investment of over 49 billion VND, the renovation, embellishment items and auxiliary works are designed with suitable architecture, ensuring identity and traditional elements. This will be an address to meet the spiritual and cultural tourism needs of people and tourists from all over.
The problem for all levels and sectors in the next stages is to connect the relic with other relic sites in the region to promote the image and typical cultural heritage values of Trang Viet homeland in general and Dong Cao village in particular.
“We believe that Ho De Temple, Dong Cao village will continue to be preserved and maintained to pass on to future generations, as a place to convey spiritual and cultural meanings and values to all local people as well as visitors from all over the world. We must be responsible for preserving, maintaining and developing, honoring the beauty of traditional culture, while at the same time developing the economy together, ensuring national security and defense, so that people can enjoy good achievements and innovations…”, Vice Chairman of Trang Viet Commune People’s Committee Dam Van Thin affirmed.
Mr. Nguyen Nhu Di, former Vice Chairman of Trang Viet Commune, shared that witnessing the process of Ho De Temple relic being invested in, restored, embellished and inaugurated today, the people of Dong Cao village, Trang Viet Commune were very excited and proud.
“Through many difficulties, there are elements that have been lost due to many objective and subjective reasons, but efforts have helped the Ho De temple relic to be restored and embellished. This will be a meaningful destination in the spiritual and cultural life in particular, and the socio-economic life in general of the people in the area in the coming time...”, Mr. Nguyen Nhu Di expressed.
