This is a large-scale commercial plant producing black pellets with heating technology , with an annual production capacity of 120,000 tons of Idemitsu Green Energy Pellets (IGEP) and is exported to the Japanese market.
Mr. Atsuhiko Hirano - Vice President of Idemitsu Kosan shared at the inauguration event of the plant: "The start-up of this plant is the first important step for Idemitsu Kosan towards the goal of achieving a capacity of 3 million tons by 2030, not only from plants in Vietnam but also from other countries in the Pacific region. With IGEP pellets, we will contribute to the neutrality goal and believe that IGEP is a practical and effective solution to replace coal or other fossil fuels to reduce CO2 emissions".
In Japan, coal is used in a wide range of industries, including electric power, pulp and paper, chemical, and food industries, to support people's daily lives. Idemitsu Kosan is working on the project to meet the carbon emission reduction needs of coal users in Japan and thereby contribute to the sustainable supply of energy and materials .
