With the philosophy of "remembering the source of water when drinking", since 2007, the Ministry of Education and Training has coordinated with the Vietnam Education Trade Union and the People's Committee of Quang Tri province to build a Memorial Area for heroic martyrs of the education sector at the Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery.
The memorial is not only a red address that contributes to educating revolutionary traditions, but also a sacred place to commemorate the contributions of teachers and students who put down their pens and went to the battlefield, heroically fighting and sacrificing for the cause of national liberation.
Recognizing the importance of this project, in 2020, the Ministry of Education and Training launched a fundraising campaign to support the renovation and upgrading of the memorial site. The project was approved by the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, with a total construction investment of more than 1.8 billion VND. In July 2022, the renovation and upgrading project began and after 1 year of construction, it has now been completed.
Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son emphasized that the project carries the hearts of millions of teachers and workers across the country, creating a meaningful and sacred landscape space in the Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery.
Mr. Son hopes and requests that the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Education and Training of Quang Tri province and relevant local social organizations do a good job of caring for, preserving, and protecting this meaningful work so that the memorial site will always be a sacred place, a place to inspire those who have worked and are working in the education sector and the whole society.
