Inauguration of the project to restore the historical relic of the National Defense Intelligence Memorial Stele

Leaders of General Department II and Tuyen Quang province cut the ribbon to inaugurate the project to restore the National Defense Intelligence Memorial Stele.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Duc Loi, Party Secretary, Political Commissar of General Department II attended and chaired the ceremony. Also attending were comrade Nguyen The Giang, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

After the Border victory in 1950, the Party Central Committee issued Directive 07/CT to strengthen intelligence work to serve the Party's strategic direction in the new situation. On May 17, 1951, the Government issued Decree No. 42/SL to establish the Strategic Intelligence Department, code-named the Liaison Office under the Prime Minister's Office. The establishment of the Liaison Office marked an important turning point in Intelligence.

Immediately after its establishment, the Liaison Office chose Thuong Am Commune, Son Duong District, Tuyen Quang Province as its headquarters to provide news services. In 2000, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the National Defense Intelligence Day, General Department II coordinated with local authorities to build a memorial stele for the Liaison Office.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country, and the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam Military Intelligence Traditional Day, the General Department II - Ministry of National Defense has coordinated to restore the historical relic of the Vietnam National Defense Intelligence Memorial Stele. The inauguration of the project has practical significance, as a place for political activities and traditional education to mark the anniversary and important historical milestones of the Strategic Intelligence Department, demonstrating the morality of drinking water and remembering its source, recognizing the contributions of generations of National Defense Intelligence officers and soldiers; and expressing gratitude to generations of local people in Thuong Am commune who have sheltered, supported, and helped.

Thereby, becoming a red address for traditional education, fostering revolutionary ideals for young generations of National Defense Intelligence and local people; becoming a source of pride in the tradition of the revolutionary base homeland and the heroic tradition of Vietnam National Defense Intelligence.
