Inauguration of Nha Trang - Cam Lam and Vinh Hao expressways

The Ministry of Transport (MOT) presided over and coordinated with Khanh Hoa and Binh Thuan provinces to inaugurate two component projects for the construction of the Nha Trang - Cam Lam and Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet sections of the Project to build a number of expressway sections on the North - South Eastern route in the 2017 - 2020 period online.

The Nha Trang - Cam Lam section project is one of three public-private partnership (PPP) investment projects with a route length of 49.1 km. The project passes through Dien Khanh district, Cam Lam district, Cam Ranh city in Khanh Hoa province with a total project capital of over VND 5,500 billion. The design phase is completed to meet expressway standards with a design speed of 120 km/h.

The project started in September 2021 and has basically completed the main route with a length of 49.1 km. The Ministry of Transport put it into temporary operation on May 19, 2023.

The second project inaugurated on the afternoon of June 18 is the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet section project with a length of about 100.8km passing through Tuy Phong, Bac Binh, Ham Thuan Bac, Ham Thuan Nam districts of Binh Thuan province. The final design phase is an expressway, with a design speed of 100-120 km/h.

The project has a total investment of 10,850 billion VND, started in September 2020, and has basically completed the main route with a length of 100.8 km. The Ministry of Transport has put it into temporary operation on May 19, 2023.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the completion of the two projects Nha Trang - Cam Lam and Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet increased the total number of kilometers of the North - South expressway to 950 km; since the beginning of the term, the Ministry of Transport has completed and put into operation 566 km of expressway, increasing the length of expressway put into use in our country to 1,729 km.

The two projects inaugurated today will contribute to connecting Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, and Binh Thuan provinces closer and faster with Ho Chi Minh City and key economic regions in the South; creating conditions to expand development space, expand economic activities, and regional connectivity, while reducing the load on National Highway 1, improving transportation capacity and ensuring traffic safety.

Previously, the Ministry of Transport issued an official dispatch directing the Vietnam Road Administration, Project Management Board 7, Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, Son Hai Group Company Limited (Investor) on ensuring traffic safety during the inauguration ceremony of the expressway projects Nha Trang - Cam Lam and Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet sections.

The North-South Eastern Expressway Project in the 2017-2020 period includes 11 component projects with a length of 654 km. Of these, 8 component projects with a length of 477 km are invested in the form of public investment and 3 component projects with a length of 177 km are invested in the form of public-private partnership. Currently, 6 component projects with a length of 425 km have been completed and put into operation.
