General Phan Van Giang spoke at the ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate the bas-relief "Uncle Ho talking to officers and soldiers of the Vanguard Army Corps".
On September 19, 1954, before returning to take over the capital, the 308th Division (the Pioneer Corps) was honored to be directly assigned a mission by Uncle Ho. At Hung Temple, Uncle Ho spoke to the officers and soldiers of the Pioneer Corps, with the immortal words: "The Hung Kings had the merit of building the country, we, your descendants, must work together to protect the country". To remember and carry out Uncle Ho's instructions and to follow the people's wishes, in 2001, the Hung Temple historical relic site was donated by the Ministry of National Defense to build a bas-relief at the Gieng Temple intersection, the scale of the project is 11.71m wide and 7.58m high with the material of assembled stone blocks and depicts a panoramic sculpture of Uncle Ho sitting and talking with the officers and soldiers of the Pioneer Corps in front of the Gieng Temple. Since the project was put into use, it has effectively promoted traditional education work. People, organizations, armed forces and youth union members have come to visit and offer flowers to remember Uncle Ho's advice.
In order to continue to protect, preserve and promote the value of the work worthy of the status of a special national relic, and at the same time to ensure solemnity and the best conditions for the leaders of the Party, State and people to organize the flower offering ceremony to express gratitude for the immense contributions of President Ho Chi Minh and the heroes and martyrs who have contributed to the country, the Hung Temple National Historical Site has consulted and reported to the leaders at all levels and received the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense's donation to restore, embellish and upgrade the bronze relief, which is in the shape of an arc, 28.16m long and 9.2m high.
Summarizing the process of restoration and embellishment of the relief "Uncle Ho talking to officers and soldiers of the Vanguard Army Corps", Mr. Le Truong Giang, Director of the Hung Temple National Special Historical Site, said that the restoration and embellishment of the relief "Uncle Ho talking to officers and soldiers of the Vanguard Army Corps" has 3 items, including: Dismantling the entire existing stone relief built in 2001 and moving it to reassemble at the yard of the Military Region 2 Museum; restoring and embellishing the new relief; the infrastructure system of the yard, garden, lighting, and trees are arranged synchronously for the project according to the design. After more than 9 months of construction, up to now, the project items have been completed, ensuring progress, technique, aesthetics, and meeting the conditions for handover and putting the project into operation.
Mr. Le Truong Giang affirmed: "In the coming time, the Hung Temple National Special Historical Relic Site promises to do a good job of management, maintenance and preservation to promote the effectiveness of the project to serve people when they visit Hung Temple."

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the bas-relief, General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense affirmed: The Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense acknowledge, highly appreciate and welcome the sense of responsibility, proactiveness, positivity, dedication and thoughtfulness of Phu Tho province, Military Region 2, Hung Temple National Special Historical Relic Site, members of the art council, contractors and relevant agencies and units during the construction process; especially the completion and putting into use of the project on the occasion of the Hung Kings' Commemoration Anniversary - Hung Temple Festival in the year of Giap Thin, towards major anniversaries: 49 years of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification; 70 years of Dien Bien Phu Victory, 35 years of National Defense Day and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army.
General Phan Van Giang emphasized: “This is a cultural work of profound political, historical and humanistic significance; it engraves the truth of national independence associated with building and defending the country, drawn from the immortal teachings of Uncle Ho; it is a symbol of the trust, love and respect of the Army, the Party Committee, the Government, the people of all ethnic groups of Phu Tho province and the people of the whole country for President Ho Chi Minh throughout the glorious revolutionary journey of the past and forever. I request the Party Committee, the Government and the people of Phu Tho province to effectively and practically manage, preserve and promote the Bas-relief work, contributing to educating patriotism, national pride and the revolutionary tradition of the Party, the ideology and great example of Uncle Ho, the spirit of great national unity and the glorious tradition of the Vietnam People's Army, the heroic army of the heroic nation.
General Phan Van Giang believes that the Party Committee, Government, people and armed forces of Phu Tho province will continue to unite, join hands and overcome all difficulties and challenges, build Phu Tho to be more civilized, modern, and develop sustainably; preserve and promote the cultural values of the Ancestral Land.

The relief “Uncle Ho talking to cadres and soldiers of the Vanguard Army Corps” has an arc shape, is 28.16m long, 9.2m high and is made of copper alloy with an average thickness of 1.5cm. After being cast at the workshop, the pieces of the relief were assembled and welded directly at the site; connected to reinforced concrete walls and through a box steel frame system. The investor has complied with the regulations of the Government and the instructions of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in the process of implementing the art part.
