Khanh Hoa: Officially exporting the first batch of bird's nest to China

On the morning of November 24, Khanh Hoa Bird's Nest JSC held an announcement ceremony for the official export of the first batch of bird's nests to Chinese partners. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien, Mr. Nguyen Hai Ninh - Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan - Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, and a number of representatives of local departments and branches.

The company announced the official export of the first shipment of bird's nest and the second shipment of bird's nest water to a Chinese partner.

To prepare well for export, Ms. Trinh Thi Hong Van - Deputy General Director of Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest JSC - said that the company has deployed the construction of a chain of birdhouses according to the correct standards and high quality with more than 300 birdhouses with an output of about 30 tons for export each year; implementing a product linkage chain, building a process of tracing the origin of bird's nests towards improving the quality of bird's nests. The General Department of Customs of China has issued an official Note approving Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest JSC to officially export products to this market.

"This is an important event, a great opportunity for businesses to access the world's most potential market. The company will cooperate effectively with partners, covering bird's nest products and post-processed products in supermarket systems and distributors in the Chinese market with the goal of increasing export turnover, revenue and increasing budget revenue for the province," Ms. Van expressed.

Vietnam's bird's nest industry has more opportunities for sustainable development

Speaking at the program, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien said that currently, 42/63 provinces and cities nationwide raise swiftlets with over 23,000 swiftlet houses. Vietnam's bird's nest output is about 200 tons, worth over 700 million USD. In particular, Khanh Hoa province is the place with the largest island swiftlet population in the country, the quality of the bird's nest is rated as the best in the world, this is also the province with the number of swiftlet houses developing rapidly with the current number of over 1,000 houses.

According to the Deputy Minister's assessment, China is a large market and also the world's largest consumer of bird's nest products, with a demand of more than 300 tons/year, accounting for about 80% of the global market share. Therefore, every year, China imports a large amount of bird's nest from other countries. Data from the bird's nest industry in China shows that official bird's nest imports into China in 2021 were about 300 tons and 452 tons in 2022. This fact shows that the Vietnamese bird's nest industry has more opportunities for sustainable development after the Protocol on bird's nest exports to China was signed.

Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien shared that the official export of bird's nests to China will help Khanh Hoa bird's nests boost exports to this market in the coming time, bringing high economic value, enhancing the value and brand of Khanh Hoa bird's nests. This is an opportunity for bird's nest production enterprises to export processed products to this potential market, the second most populous in the world.

"On the part of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the coming time, the ministry will actively and proactively perform its tasks and responsibilities in state management, continue to guide and facilitate, and help the company carry out procedures and processes to meet the conditions for the General Department of Customs of China to grant licenses to export processed bird's nest products," said Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien.

The official export of bird's nests to China will enhance the value and brand of Khanh Hoa bird's nests in this market.

For a long time, Vietnamese bird's nests have been mainly exported to China through unofficial channels and have a very modest market share. At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan - Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee also requested Khanh Hoa Bird's Nest JSC to increase production capacity, meet export requirements, and dominate the Chinese market as soon as possible, contributing to the growth of GRDP and export turnover of Khanh Hoa province.

The Protocol on quarantine, inspection and veterinary hygiene requirements for bird's nest products exported from Vietnam to China was signed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the General Administration of Customs of China and took effect from November 9, 2022.

Recently, Khanh Hoa Bird's Nest Joint Stock Company has received a license to export pure Sanvinest Khanh Hoa bird's nest products to the Chinese market issued by the General Administration of Customs of China.

Previously, the company's products were exported to markets such as the US, Australia, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong,... and countries in the Southeast Asian region.
