Diversified OCOP products
Right from the beginning of the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program, Khanh Hoa province identified this as an important solution to serve the restructuring of the agricultural sector, promote the rural economy, and contribute to building new rural areas.
Therefore, in recent times, all levels, sectors and localities have actively supported, advised and guided localities and entities to select typical products, deploy production according to standards and register to participate in the OCOP program.
Up to now, the whole province has 233 OCOP products with 3 stars or more that are still valid for recognition, of which 1 product has a score of 5 stars, 17 products have 4 stars (accounting for 7.3%) and 215 products have 3 stars (accounting for over 92%). By product group, there are 160 food products, 41 beverage products, 1 cosmetic product, 29 handicraft products, 1 ornamental product, 1 tourism service product; with 124 entities having OCOP products recognized. Of which, 52 enterprises (accounting for over 41%), 22 cooperatives (accounting for over 17%), 14 cooperative groups (accounting for over 11%), 36 business households (accounting for 29%).
Mr. Nguyen Duy Quang, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that the province's OCOP products are diverse in types and most of them are key products, typical of localities such as fish sauce, bird's nest, agarwood, seaweed, mango, durian, green-skinned grapefruit, high-quality rice, etc.
The implementation of the OCOP program has made a positive and significant contribution to the development of the rural economy from the mountainous areas to the plains. Through this program, it has also contributed to arousing the potential of land, products, comparative advantages, especially cultural values to build and form OCOP products that integrate "multi-values", linking agricultural development with services and tourism in the province. Creating motivation, helping individuals, production households, and cooperatives change their traditional production mindset to agricultural economic mindset, creating a foundation for products to reach beyond the traditional market.
“Because when participating in the OCOP program, all products must be manufactured according to strict technical standards and processes, so they produce products with good quality, beautiful designs, and food safety to meet the consumer market,” Mr. Quang shared.

Therefore, after being recognized and awarded OCOP stars, the products are easily consumed domestically and internationally, and have export opportunities such as DT Group's 4-star Okinawa dehydrated seaweed product or Tri Tin dehydrated seaweed product with 5 stars of Tri Tin Company Limited and bird's nest and agarwood products...
Furthermore, the production of OCOP products also changes the production mindset of people and cooperatives, gradually shifting from small-scale, spontaneous production to large-scale, commodity-oriented, planned production, building a closed value chain to create a stable, quality raw material area, producing according to market requirements.
In fact, many chains have been formed from production to processing and consumption of products such as green-skinned grapefruit, durian, rice, seaweed, pig and chicken farming, etc. Thereby, contributing to improving production efficiency, increasing people's income, creating momentum for agricultural and rural economic development, contributing to sustainable poverty reduction.

In addition, each OCOP product also acts as an "ambassador" to convey stories of each region and locality such as specialty products of dried mango with salt and chili; Van Dan rice in Ninh Hung, Cam Ranh lobster, Ninh Dong crow sticky rice wine, Khanh Hoa bird's nest, agarwood incense, Ninh Da coconut, Ninh Hai seaweed... Thereby, contributing to promoting the image of the localities, attracting people and tourists to learn and explore.
Support OCOP products
In order to promote, introduce and trade OCOP products that are recognized and ranked at 3 stars or higher, Khanh Hoa province has recently promoted the construction of events to introduce, connect and distribute products to help consumers access and use the province's OCOP products. At the same time, it has expanded the consumption of agricultural products on new, modern and sustainable distribution channels through digital platforms.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duy Quang, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department has coordinated with the Department of Industry and Trade to support the promotion and sale of OCOP products at introduction points. As well as supporting entities participating in Khanh Hoa e-commerce trading floors and trade promotion programs inside and outside the province.

In addition, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development also requested the Department of Information and Communications to coordinate with the Khanh Hoa Provincial Post Office and the Viettel Khanh Hoa Post Office Branch to promote OCOP products on the e-commerce trading floor of the Vietnam Post Corporation. It also requested the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to promote the presence of OCOP products on e-commerce trading floors according to Plan No. 867 dated January 22, 2024 of the Provincial People's Committee to ensure effective implementation of the goal of developing the digital economy by 2025 with 80% of OCOP products on e-commerce trading floors.
Regarding future orientation, the Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that he will continue to promote advantages and improve the quality of OCOP products, especially certified products.
Specifically, by 2025, the province aims to upgrade, standardize, and complete at least 200 products that meet 3-star OCOP provincial standards, and at least 3 products that meet 5-star OCOP national standards. At the same time, develop OCOP products associated with new rural construction, as well as develop rural tourism associated with OCOP products. From there, not only will economic value, agricultural production efficiency, and people's lives be enhanced, but also the cultural identity of each locality will be preserved.

To do that, the province will develop OCOP products in 6 groups, prioritizing unique, traditional and advantageous agricultural, non-agricultural and service products in each locality, in the direction of promoting internal resources (creativity, labor, raw materials, local culture...) to increase value, associated with community development.
At the same time, call for the participation of enterprises and cooperatives in developing OCOP products associated with tourism. Strengthen the transfer of technology applications, digital transformation in production, market connection, traceability, especially the application of information technology; social sciences and humanities in developing OCOP products associated with rural tourism, preserving indigenous cultural values.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will also continue to coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade to promote e-commerce development for OCOP products through e-commerce platforms and connecting supply and demand...
