Affirming position, opening up many prospects for practical cooperation

The delegation of Long An province has successfully concluded a working trip to Japan, marking an important step forward in strengthening the cooperative relationship between Long An and Japan. The results achieved during the working trip affirm the position of the province, while opening up many prospects for practical and effective cooperation in the coming time.

Promoting high-tech agricultural cooperation

Within the framework of a working trip to Ibaraki province (Japan), on April 3, the Long An province delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Ibaraki province to discuss, work and upgrade cooperation agreements in the fields of industry, logistics, seaports and high-tech agriculture.

At the working session, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Long An Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Ut met and worked with Governor of Ibaraki Province Kazuhiko Oigawa to discuss existing areas of cooperation and future expansion orientations.

Governor Kazuhiko Oigawa introduced the development of Ibaraki in areas such as seaports, infrastructure. Especially high-tech agriculture, with production cooperatives supplying large output to Tokyo and many other areas. He also appreciated the contributions of Vietnamese human resources. Among them, there are workers from Long An to the economic development of Ibaraki province, helping this locality achieve the third highest GDP in the country, after Tokyo and Aichi.

On Long An’s side, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Ut hoped that the two provinces would promote cooperation in the field of high-tech agriculture, taking advantage of similar products to develop the market. At the same time, he emphasized Long An’s potential in the fields of industry, high-tech agriculture, urban infrastructure, logistics with abundant clean industrial land fund, and an increasingly complete transportation system connecting Ho Chi Minh City.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee invited the Governor of Ibaraki Prefecture to visit Long An to witness the changes in the locality, and continue to discuss and enhance the specific cooperation relationship in many areas of strength. In response, Mr. Kazuhiko Oigawa happily accepted the invitation and is expected to visit in early spring 2026, on the occasion of the two sides evaluating the upgrading of the Cooperation Agreement.

Along with that, the delegation had a working session with the provincial agricultural department, surveyed high-tech agricultural models, and directly exchanged with Japanese organizations and investors before ending the working trip in Japan.

Exchange of experiences in sustainable agricultural development

During the working trip, the delegation visited and worked at the Ibaraki Prefectural Agricultural Center (Ibarakiken Nogyo Sogo) - One of the leading centers for research and application of advanced agricultural technology in the province. The center plays an important role in modernizing agricultural production, improving productivity, product quality and developing sustainable farming models.

During the working session, the delegation learned about high-tech agricultural models, including: smart farming systems using artificial intelligence (AI), drone technology in crop monitoring, automated greenhouses and high-value crop varieties such as Keisui pears and high-tech strawberries. The two sides also exchanged experiences in optimizing production processes, supply chain management and sustainable agricultural development.

Talking with the Director of Suzuki Shigeo Center, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Dinh Thi Phuong Khanh highly appreciated the valuable experiences shared by the Center and hoped that the two sides would continue to exchange information and cooperate in research to apply appropriate technology to agricultural production in Long An.

Before that, the delegation visited the Granberry Daichi farm, which applies advanced technology to strawberry cultivation. Thanks to the sensor system that controls temperature, light, fertilizer and automatic irrigation, the plants grow well, giving high yield and superior quality.

The farm is not only successful in production but also combines an agricultural tourism model, creating opportunities for visitors to experience, enjoy and purchase strawberry products. Businesses participating in the delegation highly appreciate the potential of this model and hope to apply it to Long An's key products such as dragon fruit, both improving agricultural efficiency and promoting local tourism.

Create a platform to expand cooperation in many fields

Thus, after a week of working with a tight schedule, the Long An Provincial Delegation achieved many important results in investment promotion activities, local connection and research on high-tech agricultural applications.

The highlight of the trip was the Long An – Japan Investment and Trade Promotion Program 2025, attracting more than 100 delegates from diplomatic agencies, organizations, businesses and large corporations of Japan. The program marked an important step forward with three cooperation agreements signed in the fields of environment, investment promotion in many fields such as industry, high-tech agriculture and human resource development.

In addition, the delegation surveyed 2 models of high-tech agriculture and advanced transportation technology, worked with 8 leading organizations, associations and enterprises such as IHI, Feager, Sapporo, JETRO, Ibaraki Agricultural Association. In particular, meetings with the Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan and the Governor of Ibaraki Province contributed to strengthening the cooperative relationship between Long An and Japan, creating a foundation for expanding cooperation across many fields of economics, trade, labor and education and training.
