As a “bridge” to bring science and technology (S&T) to farmers, in recent times, the Agricultural Service Center of Trieu Son district has actively helped farmers apply scientific and technological advances to production, improving productivity and quality of crops and livestock. At the same time, affirming the quality and position of the local agricultural sector.
Trieu Son District Agricultural Service Center cooperated with the Association of Plant Seeds and Agricultural Materials to deploy a model of using Eco Nutrients biological organic fertilizer on spring rice to achieve high productivity.
Trieu Son is a locality with a large natural area and diverse terrain, so the district advocates the synchronous development of cultivation, livestock and aquaculture. Therefore, the role of the District Agricultural Service Center is even more important. Mr. Nguyen Dinh Phuong, director of the center, said: In 2019, the Trieu Son District Agricultural Service Center was established. After nearly 5 years of operation, the center has affirmed its important role in the agricultural development of the district. In order to promote its role as a "bridge", the center has assigned staff to participate in supporting and transferring production science and technology suitable to the capacity and farming traditions of the people. At the same time, closely following production, promptly detecting and handling crop pests, diseases in livestock and aquaculture areas, contributing to improving the efficiency of agricultural production and gradually changing the production mindset of the people.
Every year, to improve operational efficiency, the center organizes from 60 to 80 training courses on cultivation techniques, veterinary and aquaculture for nearly 1,000 participants. Through these training courses, farmers in the district are able to acquire and apply scientific and technological advances in production; prevent and control harmful diseases; prevent and control diseases in livestock and poultry; convert low -economic rice land to high-yield, high-quality crops; develop organic agriculture; apply synchronous mechanization in both cultivation and livestock production... At the same time, to supplement the district's variety structure, replacing old rice varieties that have degenerated or have poor resistance, the center has organized demonstrations and trials of a number of promising rice varieties to develop organic rice areas; In which, some rice varieties have been put into production with high productivity and quality, such as TBR39, Huong Thanh 8, WN305, HL5... and support communes to continue building high-yield, high-quality, and efficient rice areas in the direction of smart agricultural production, adapting to climate change... In addition, every year, the District Agricultural Service Center also coordinates with the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center, professional associations, enterprises providing plant varieties, fertilizers,... to successfully implement agricultural extension models, such as: Chicken farming model associated with product consumption in Tho Ngoc commune; freshwater fish farming model ensuring food safety in mountainous areas in Tho Son commune; large-scale intensive forest planting model in the direction of high technology associated with product consumption (tissue hybrid acacia) in Tho Binh commune; model of applying Eco Nitrients biological fertilizer on spring rice in Trieu Son town...
One of the important marks of the Agricultural Service Center of Trieu Son district is the livestock sector. With a total herd of 17,000 buffaloes and cows; 80,000 pigs, hundreds of thousands of poultry, every year the center always focuses on propaganda work on measures to care for and prevent diseases for livestock and poultry. At the same time, closely monitor and handle emerging diseases when necessary. For example, in December 2023, pigs provided from the "Breeding Sows" Project under the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the period 2020-2025 fell ill and died in Tho Binh and Tho Tien communes. The Agricultural Service Center of Trieu Son district actively monitored the area, checked for symptoms of the disease, found the cause and instructed people on how to care for and raise sick pigs and implement disease prevention measures for local pigs. Thanks to that, the situation has been resolved, ensuring the livestock and poultry of the people. Ms. Hoang Thi Hang, a veterinary officer at the Agricultural Service Center of Trieu Son district, said: "We not only closely monitor, monitor, and detect early signs of disease in livestock to have timely treatment measures, but also carry out propaganda and guidance for people to apply biosafety livestock farming measures; utilize agricultural by-products as feed for livestock; compost microbial fertilizers, treat livestock waste... contributing to building a livestock industry with high economic efficiency and sustainable development".
Performing its role well, the Agricultural Service Center of Trieu Son district continues to direct agricultural extension officers in charge of commune clusters and agricultural extension workers of communes to stay close to the grassroots, accompany farmers in production, and actively contribute to agricultural development in the direction of safety, sustainability, and high added value.
