Accordingly, Tan Son Nhat airport has discovered damage at the threshold of runway 25L/07R, which could affect flight safety and must be patched. These damages are in the form of thermal cracks in large concrete structures caused by the heat of cement hydration.

This package for repairing damaged runways is part of the aviation infrastructure maintenance fund invested and managed by the State.
The airport said the contractor will make quick repairs within four days to ensure flight operations continue as normal.
Total estimated value of construction, supervision consultancy and construction insurance items is more than 470 million VND.
The above mentioned runway was decided by the Government to be deployed under an emergency order, construction started on July 1, 2020, including: Upgrading runway 25R/07L and building new parallel taxiways and quick exit taxiways.
After the runway was completed, Tan Son Nhat International Airport welcomed hundreds of flights landing and taking off every day.
During the most recent peak of operations during National Day, September 2, Tan Son Nhat Airport welcomed 723 flights taking off and landing within 1 day.
