Urgently repair and put into operation the irrigation system of My Tai and My Chanh Tay communes.

(BD) - On the morning of April 9, Mr. Ho Dac Chuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, said that the Department had sent a document requesting the Provincial People's Committee to direct the Phu My District People's Committee to hand over the project to Binh Dinh Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited for management and operation. Before handing over the project, the Phu My District People's Committee urgently organized the repair and maintenance of the power system and construction equipment to ensure normal operation.

Phu My District People's Committee also needs to direct relevant units to develop a project for water-saving irrigation on upland crops benefiting from the water-saving irrigation system project in My Tai and My Chanh Tay communes. Coordinate with the Planning Center and the Agricultural Extension Center to urgently complete and approve the project as a basis for implementation. The People's Committees of My Tai and My Chanh Tay communes focus on building a grassroots irrigation organization to build and manage the inland irrigation system from the hydrant to the field, propagate and mobilize, instruct people to reorganize production to use the project's water source effectively; organize and implement the contents of the advanced irrigation project, saving water in the direction of automation for upland crops in the province approved in Decision No. 1336/QD-UBND dated April 16, 2024 of the Provincial People's Committee...

The water-saving irrigation system in My Tai and My Chanh Tay communes belongs to the pilot project of green growth model in intensive citrus production, pilot investment in water-saving irrigation system on upland crops to cope with drought situation in Binh Dinh.

The project started on June 10, 2019, completed on August 30, 2020 and was handed over by the Agricultural and Rural Development Project Management Board to the People's Committee of Phu My district to put into use in October 2020, serving irrigation for 350 hectares of agricultural land in My Tai commune and My Chanh Tay commune with an investment cost of 37.1 billion VND. The project includes the following items: Pumping station with a designed flow of 0.25m ³ /s with 5 generators; water supply and distribution pipeline with a total length of 36,434m, along with the station operator, operating power system, Nhai stream dam...

After being put into operation, the project has supplied irrigation water for 9.5 hectares of peanuts in the 2020-2021 Winter-Spring crop and 5.68 hectares of peanuts in the 2021-2022 Winter-Spring crop in My Tai commune. After the 2021-2022 Winter-Spring crop, the project has stopped operating and not supplied water for production, while the people's production needs are in need. Through inspection, some equipment of the project is currently damaged and lost, the project is no longer able to operate normally. The electricity company has stopped supplying electricity to the project after stopping operations.
