Urgently 'upgrade' the national highway connecting Lam Dong with Binh Thuan

The National Highway 28B Improvement and Upgrading Project was approved by the Ministry of Construction with a strategic vision, aiming to gradually complete the transportation system connecting Binh Thuan and Lam Dong.

The project was started in April 2024 with a total investment of more than 1,400 billion VND from the state budget. Upon completion, the project will promote connectivity and socio-economic development of Lam Dong and Binh Thuan, as well as the Central Highlands - South Central region in general.

However, up to now, although many sections are being urgently constructed, the first layer of asphalt has been paved, but the project has only reached 20% of the construction progress, about 6% behind schedule.

According to the report, Binh Thuan has only over 19km of land handed over, 31.5km is "waiting" for procedures.

Faced with that situation, the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee has requested Duc Trong district to urgently speed up site clearance for the Project to Renovate and Upgrade National Highway 28B connecting Lam Dong and Binh Thuan provinces.

Mr. Nguyen Van Gia - Director of Lam Dong Department of Construction - said that the project package to expand and upgrade National Highway 28B is expected to be completed by the end of this year. The entire national highway is expected to be completed in June 2026. "National Highway 28B is the shortest route connecting Lam Dong province with National Highway 1, the North-South Expressway in the East, the North-South railway and connecting to Vinh Tan port," Mr. Gia said.
