Impact on people's lives
The project to repair the sidewalks and ditches along DT.611 aims to solve the problem of localized water stagnation for people, the total construction length is more than 3km. At the same time, traffic lights will be built at the intersection of Km18+300/DT.611 with Do Quang Street.
The project is invested by the Department of Transport of Quang Nam province. The project implementation progress is from 2023 to 2024 with a total investment of more than 13 billion VND.
Although approved in 2023, the project will not begin construction until August 2024. This has affected the progress of the project due to the rainy season.
According to the reporter of Kinh te & Do thi Newspaper, although the construction unit has completed most of the longitudinal drainage system, sections of densely populated residential areas are still messy.
The construction also caused a lot of inconvenience to the daily life and business of the surrounding people. The reason was that the construction happened during the rainy season, it was not completely completed, and some construction signs were even sketchy. The road has a large amount of traffic, so it is potentially unsafe for traffic.
Mr. Nguyen Van Minh (52 years old, Que Thuan commune) said that the construction of the drainage system and the improvement of the roadside helped solve the problem of stagnant water. However, the prolonged construction process has affected the daily life and travel of the people. Not to mention, the construction in the rainy season also causes traffic difficulties and destroys the urban landscape.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Cuc (40 years old, Que Chau commune), the road has many types of traffic, not to mention the large number of students going to school, so the construction unit needs to pay attention to signs and barriers. The construction sites should also be focused on finishing instead of spreading out, affecting the business of some households.
Avoid the refrain "digging again at the end of the year"
At this time, the project to repair the sidewalks and ditches along Highway 611 is still ongoing. Therefore, most people are worried that the progress will last until near Tet, or even past 2025. If the sidewalk excavation continues, it will certainly affect people's lives, business activities and traffic at the end of the year.
A representative of Quang Nam Transport Construction Joint Stock Company (the contractor) admitted that the project's progress was affected by the fact that construction would not begin until August 2024. Heavy rains often occur in the area at this time, causing damage to structures and people's houses in some sections. The contractor must sign a commitment with the people to ensure safety before implementation.
Currently, the drainage ditch project is basically on schedule, with only about 70m remaining to be constructed. If the weather is favorable, this project can be completed within the next 10 days. Regarding the roadside, due to the use of local soil, we have to wait for the soil to dry before leveling the ground.
The Quang Nam Department of Transport said that the project has completed over 60%. The basic progress of the project is on schedule, with the drainage ditch being completed quickly. The remaining pavement items cannot be filled due to continuous rain.
The Department has requested the construction unit to speed up the progress when the weather is favorable. The parties must comply with the contract so that the project can be completed early and not affect people's lives near Tet.
