Audiences love Tran Luc's "Doll"

On the evening of October 1st, a large audience flocked to the Hong Ha Theater to watch the play "The Doll" (written by Le Hoang, directed by Meritorious Artist Tran Luc). This was the first time Meritorious Artist Tran Luc staged a play by Le Hoang, an experimental theatrical story that was quite captivating due to the witty dialogue and the clever, satirical handling of situations by author Le Hoang.

The emotions of the majority of the audience towards the play "The Doll" by Meritorious Artist Tran Luc erupted as his brainchild increased its number of performances.

Director Huynh Tinh Van - wife of Meritorious Artist Nguyen Cong Ninh - said that after watching "The Doll," she was delighted by his fresh and unique storytelling style, unlike that of any other director.

Meritorious Artist Hoang Tung delivered an outstanding performance. He skillfully applied his mime acting talent to the story "The Doll" directed by Meritorious Artist Tran Luc.

The experiments in acting forms, changes in composition, space, and staging thinking by Meritorious Artist Tran Luc have yielded many new insights for those studying stage directing and researching theatrical theory.

Most of the audience applauded when watching the play featuring young actors, including Meritorious Artist Hoang Tung - a lecturer in the Theatre Department of the Hanoi University of Theatre and Film. The actors, including Vo Hoai Vu as the waiter, Thu Hien as the girl, Hoang Tung as the man, and Phuong My as the matchmaker, created a range of emotions mixed with entertainment.

Meritorious Artist Tran Luc said that there are two performance teams with different approaches for each show, not only in changing the actors but also, with the same play and actors, each night will bring a different emotion. That is the strength of the stage, especially the "conventional - expressive" stage.

Audiences and colleagues presented flowers to congratulate director and Meritorious Artist Tran Luc on his play "The Doll".

"Change is key to freshness, to keep the character's image always appealing. With its advantages, 'conventional-expressionist' theater can create characters whose ideology may not be consistent with their appearance, and through acting techniques combined with physical performance, actors convey the character's thoughts and personality," - Meritorious Artist Tran Luc explained.

The greatest achievement of Meritorious Artist Tran Luc is that he created opportunities for young actors, encouraging them to strive to improve their physical appearance and dialogue, and to collaborate creatively on the path he has chosen. "The Doll" is beautiful in appearance but emotionless when exploited to satisfy evil purposes. "The Doll" also reflects the misuse of artificial intelligence by humans and their indifference towards one another.

Perhaps it is because of this theme that the play "The Doll" has attracted a large number of young people to watch it, and it is predicted that "The Doll" will be shown continuously throughout October 2023.
