The "Meeting at the End of the Year - Táo Quân 2024" program, which aired on the evening of the 30th of Tet (February 9th), attracted considerable attention from viewers due to a complete overhaul of the cast of veteran artists playing the roles of the Kitchen Gods, such as Chí Trung, Quang Thắng, Vân Dung, Tự Long, etc. The script also abandoned the motif of the Kitchen Gods reporting on the royal court, instead focusing on the Jade Emperor's incognito journey to the mortal world.

While the program was airing, mixed reactions emerged on social media. The majority of viewers expressed disappointment and a sense of unfamiliarity at the absence of familiar faces such as Xuan Bac, Cong Ly, Chi Trung, Quang Thang, Van Dung, and Tu Long.

The motif of the Jade Emperor's incognito journey was also criticized as quite outdated, with bland humor and a lack of witty, engaging, and trend-setting dialogue. The scenes for the Kitchen Gods were limited, and their appearances before the Emperor lacked highlights.

Screenwriter Trinh Thanh Nha expressed her regret on Facebook: "After watching 'Tao Quan' (the annual Lunar New Year comedy show), I'm utterly bored. I can't blame the actors. The blandness comes from the script. There wasn't a single noteworthy dramatic situation. It's a real shame."
