On March 4, at Casa Italia, 18 Le Phung Hieu, Hanoi, the photo exhibition “The beauty of Italian rice farming” will open. The exhibition is organized during the visit to Vietnam of the Italian Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry Francesco Lollobrigida.
“The Beauty of Italian Rice Agriculture” tells the history of rice cultivation in Italy through photographs. Italy is the leading rice producer in Europe, from the beginning more than 500 years ago to today’s farming techniques to monitor new rice lines for the future.
Every year in Italy, people can admire the “sea of checks”, a landscape of rice fields winding through large rice growing areas, highlighting the link between rice cultivation and environmental protection.
The exhibition also celebrates the similarities between Italy and Vietnam in the cultivation of this vital grain. Rice cultivation has always been important to both countries, which are proud of their important culinary traditions, with rice being the main ingredient in traditional dishes, from risotto to banh chung.
