The Third Nguyen Phi Sai (1558-1634) was the eldest son of the Second Nguyen Phi Le, from Toan Luu commune (some documents record Kim Doi commune), Thach Ha district, now Thach Ha town. Around 1580, the family moved to live and work in Dan Che commune (now Thach Long commune). Nguyen Phi Sai's temple is now in Gia Ngai 1 village, Thach Long commune. The Nguyen Phi Sai church grounds are quite large, nearly 1,200 square meters , with many trees and construction items. Right behind the entrance gate and the scroll is the main church area with the worship house (where descendants worship) and the main shrine.
On both sides of the church are the royal edict house (on the right) and the ancestral council house (on the left). The royal edict house is several hundred years old and is where royal edicts from ancient times are kept; the ancestral council house worships the ancestral council.
The Sac house is a unique and rare artifact in Ha Tinh, made of pearl wood and built over 300 years ago.
The royal palace is preserving 7 very valuable royal decrees of dynasties, one of which is the oldest royal decree in our province today. The main shrine of Nguyen Phi Sai church consists of the upper shrine and the lower shrine. In the photo: Panorama of the main shrine.
The main altar in the upper hall worships the Third Ancestor Nguyen Phi Sai; next to it are the district dukes and ancestors of the family.
On the left and right of the main shrine are altars for other branches and family gods.
About 3km south of the church is the tomb of the Third Ancestor Vo Quan Cong Nguyen Phi Sai. In 1634, after the Third Ancestor Vo Quan Cong Nguyen Phi Sai passed away, according to the royal court's order, his body was moved to his hometown Dan Che commune, Thach Ha district and buried in Loi Ma (in Luong Thuong village (now in residential group 13, Thach Ha town).
For nearly 350 years, his grave has been worshiped by his descendants and looked after and preserved by local people. The grave has been restored many times by his descendants, most recently in 2020. The entire grave, fence and other items are made of split stone, spacious and solid.
In recognition of the great contributions of Vo Quan Cong Nguyen Phi Sai, on January 23, 2007, the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province issued Decision No. 238/QD-UBND on ranking Nguyen Phi Sai Church as a provincial historical and cultural relic. On November 20, 2024, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued a decision on the national relic ranking for "Nguyen Phi Sai's Tomb and Temple". The ceremony to receive the relic ranking certificate and bring the certificate to the family temple is expected to be held on April 16, 2025.
