Specifically, from 0:01 on April 28, Phu Bai International Airport will transfer all official flights from Passenger Terminal T1 (old) to Passenger Terminal T2.
The project to build Passenger Terminal T2 of Phu Bai International Airport, invested by Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), started construction on December 29, 2019, with a capacity of 5 million passengers/year (including 1 million international passengers and 4 million domestic passengers), with a total investment of nearly 2,300 billion VND.

Passenger Terminal T2 serves domestic flights (about 80% capacity) and international flights (about 20% capacity), designed with functional space with 2 passenger circulation levels.
The station is designed with the idea of Hue royal architecture with a stylized roof system that is both modern and traditional.
The terminal is invested with modern equipment, advanced aviation technology, providing many high-quality amenities to serve passengers, including domestic and international arrival areas located on the 1st floor and departure areas located on the 2nd floor.

According to ACV, Passenger Terminal T2 of Phu Bai International Airport is the first terminal of ACV to apply digital transformation, upgrade digital infrastructure, and digital platform to standardize business processes, bringing many conveniences to passengers.
Including: a support system to help passengers self-check in (Self Check-in Kiosk); a support system to help passengers self-check in baggage (Self Baggage Drop); an automatic broadcasting system using AI to broadcast to search by passenger name; deploying a system using electronic chip-embedded CCCD cards, Biometric facial recognition (Facial ID) along with a system of equipment to control automatic security procedures; an automatic boarding control system (E-gate)...
The first passengers landed through Passenger Terminal T2 of Phu Bai International Airport
Currently, Phu Bai International Airport is serving 15 - 17 domestic flights/day.
For international flights, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires ACV and Phu Bai International Airport to coordinate with state management agencies operating at the port (Border Police, Customs, Health Quarantine, etc.) on the plan before operating Passenger Terminal T2. At the same time, fully implement the plan to convert operations from Passenger Terminal T1 to Passenger Terminal T2, and test the passenger terminal for hypothetical international flights and actual flights before official operation.
Terminal T2 of Phu Bai International Airport was put into operation on this occasion to serve the increased demand for air travel before the opening of Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2023 and the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day and April 30 - May 1 holidays.
