Commercial Infrastructure Breakthrough

Over the past 10 years, people in the province have clearly felt the development of the trade and service sector. In rural areas, the system of traditional markets has been invested in upgrading and newly built under the National Target Program on New Rural Development, attracting a large number of small traders to do business, providing diverse shopping opportunities, meeting the consumption needs of the people. In urban areas, people are delighted with the appearance of many convenience stores, electronics centers, supermarkets, and shopping centers.

Ms. Luu Thi Hue, Hoang Dieu Ward, Thai Binh City shared: In the past, many people thought that shopping at a shopping mall or supermarket was something very strange, luxurious and only available in big cities like Hai Phong and Hanoi . Now, right in Thai Binh, everyone can experience this civilized, modern and very convenient form of business because there are shopping malls and supermarkets such as Vincom Plaza, WinMart, Go, Victory...

Currently, there are 15 supermarkets and 2 shopping malls in the province. In the next 6 years, according to the Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, Thai Binh will build at least 42 new supermarkets and 35 shopping malls, including 1 Grade I shopping mall, 23 Grade II and Grade III shopping malls in communes and wards in the city, town areas and 11 shopping malls in communes in the district. In addition, the province also plans to build an exhibition center in Thai Binh city to promote the circulation of goods and consumers will have more attractive shopping experiences.

Ms. To Thi Huong Lan, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: The province's policy is to develop a synchronous and diverse commercial infrastructure system, combining traditional and modern trade. Particularly, the commercial infrastructure in urban areas is modernized, applying digital technology in management, exploitation and operation; essential commercial infrastructure in rural areas is fully developed, effectively serving business activities and people's daily needs.

In order to develop the petroleum distribution system, ensure circulation and stabilize the consumption market, and meet the demand for petroleum in the province, in addition to maintaining the stability of 2 national petroleum depots and 6 petroleum storage depots under 5,000m3 , the province will plan to invest in a number of new large-scale depots and expand petroleum depots under 5,000m3 in the area according to the National Petroleum Reserve and Supply Infrastructure Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister.

The province's commercial and service infrastructure will be continuously invested in synchronously and modernly in the coming time.

Developing service sector commensurate with potential and strengths

When the coastal road and the CT.08 expressway are completed and put into operation, Thai Binh will become a particularly important location connecting two regions: the Red River Delta and the North Central Coast. To take advantage of this “golden” location, the Provincial People’s Committee is determined to plan and build Thai Binh into a transit area and a distribution center for goods for these two regions.

According to Mr. Tran Huy Quan, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade: This is a strategic vision and early seizing of opportunities, exploiting the province's unique advantages to make Thai Binh's service sector make a strong breakthrough in the coming time. To realize that goal, the province's plan is to encourage investment attraction to expand and modernize the trade network, distribute consumer goods, provide financial and banking services, support agricultural and industrial production, and develop e-commerce.

In the coming time, the province will promote the construction of service infrastructure in tourist areas in a professional, modern and synchronous manner. Developing smart and sustainable tourism associated with promoting the cultural and natural values of the locality to turn Thai Binh into a connecting center for green tourism, cultural tourism, spiritual tourism, and high-end resort tourism, creating a driving force to promote the development of other economic sectors.

Ms. Nguyen Lan Anh, Director of VTB Trading and Tourism Company Limited (Thai Binh City) said: As a domestic and international travel service enterprise, we see that Thai Binh has many relics, cultural arts, cuisine, and garden villages that are great destinations and materials for tourism development, but have not been effectively exploited in the past. I think that in addition to propaganda, advertising, and tourism promotion, the province's planning and investment in service infrastructure is very important to awaken and promote those tourism potentials to actively serve the local socio-economic development and improve people's lives.

In the province's service sector development strategy until 2030, Thai Binh will establish at least 6 logistics service centers in Thai Binh city and the districts of Thai Thuy, Tien Hai, Hung Ha, Kien Xuong, and Quynh Phu. In addition to opening up new industries to serve socio-economic development, logistics service centers also effectively support businesses in economic zones, industrial parks, and industrial clusters to develop and contribute to attracting investment to the province in the future.

Thai Binh will invest in building at least 6 logistics service centers in the next 6 years.
