Exploiting literary and artistic values ​​in the cultural industry

Important directions

In the process of national construction after liberation, especially since Vietnam implemented the renovation policy, the Party's awareness of the role and position of culture as well as specific cultural development goals have had clear changes in response to the requirements and demands of the new situation. Specifically, in the Platform for national construction during the transition period to socialism (1991), our Party identified the culture we are building as "an advanced culture with strong national identity"; one of the six basic characteristics of the socialist regime in Vietnam. In 1998, the Resolution of the 5th Conference of the 8th Party Central Committee on building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture with strong national identity was adopted as a strategy for developing Vietnamese culture during the period of industrialization and modernization of the country.

At the 9th Congress, our Party emphasized: “Building an advanced culture imbued with national identity is both the goal and the driving force for socio -economic development”. This viewpoint was further deepened in the documents of the 10th Congress of the Party. In particular, the Platform for national construction in the transitional period to socialism (supplemented and developed in 2011).

Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the country's sustainable development requirements affirmed the goal of "Building an advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity, unified in the diversity of the Vietnamese ethnic community". In 2020, Conclusion No. 76-KL/TW of the Politburo once again emphasized that "Building and developing culture and people is an important and regular task of the entire political system. Culture is the soul of the nation, the solid spiritual foundation of society, an important endogenous strength to ensure sustainable development and firmly protect the Fatherland, for the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness, and civilization".

At the 13th National Congress, our Party continued to identify that building culture in politics and economics is still one of the fundamental issues of the country in the new period. To develop the country sustainably, not only must culture be placed on par with economics, politics and society, but also must build and develop culture and people - creating endogenous strength for sustainable development.

To implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress on culture and the National Cultural Conference in November 2021, the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong suggested a number of key tasks and solutions. In particular, it is necessary to comprehensively and synchronously develop cultural fields, build a healthy cultural environment, rich spiritual life, harmonize relationships between people, between people and the cultural environment and nature. Preserve and promote traditional cultural values, absorb the quintessence of human culture. At the same time, improve the quality and efficiency of creating new cultural values. Build a digital cultural environment suitable for the digital economy, digital society and digital citizens, making culture adaptable and regulating the sustainable development of the country in the context of the fourth industrial revolution.

Developing cultural industry

Speaking at the conference summarizing the activities of the culture, sports and tourism sector in 2024, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested the entire culture, sports and tourism sector to continue to closely follow the direction and leadership of the Party and State, the support of the people and the assistance of international friends to realize the goal of developing the country's culture. Promote autonomy, self-reliance, proactively grasp and correctly assess the situation, reflect timely and effective policies, promote the internal strength of the sector and comprehensively combine sectors. It is necessary to internationalize Vietnamese culture and values ​​through cultural, sports and tourism activities. At the same time, Vietnamize the quintessence of the world.

In the new context, the Party and the State have oriented solutions to develop the cultural industry, considering cultural industries as an important component of the national economy. The development of cultural industries, most of which are literary and artistic products such as architecture, fine arts, performing arts, photography, etc., must be based on creativity, science and technology and intellectual property; maximizing the economic factors of cultural values ​​and closely linked to promoting the image of the country and Vietnamese people, contributing to protecting and promoting the national cultural identity in the process of international exchange, integration and cooperation.

According to Director of the Provincial Cultural and Cinema Center Nguyen Hoai Anh, in order to meet the people's need to enjoy culture and art in the modern context, cultural and artistic workers need to understand their roots and understand local culture. From there, they can absorb and bring cultural values ​​to the community. Cultural and artistic activities are not currently on the sidelines of the digital transformation process. Cultural workers need to adapt, penetrate and integrate into the general process of society.

“50 years is a journey to tell a proud development period. As cultural workers, we have a motto that we cherish, which is “Dare to think, dare to do”. Generations of Ben Tre people have dared to create stories that have gone down in history, so each activity and product of Ben Tre cultural and artistic workers always carries the spirit of daring to think and dare to do. In the current context, to adapt better, to deepen the tradition, today’s literary and artistic workers must also dare to think about the past, think about the future and do something worthy of the past, do something suitable for the development trend of the future, contributing to the country’s renewal in the coming time”.
