Many festivals imbued with ethnic cultural identity in Lao Cai are making an important contribution to creating momentum for tourism development in ethnic minority areas.

In recent years, along with the general development of tourism in the whole country, tourism in ethnic minority areas is also on the rise. Infrastructure has been invested, many high-quality tourism products have been put into operation, tourism services have been improved, thereby changing the face of tourism in ethnic minority areas, contributing to promoting the overall economic growth of the country. To achieve impressive tourism figures, in addition to factors such as landscape, atmosphere, and environment, the diverse and rich culture of ethnic minorities has contributed significantly. This is an important basis contributing to the momentum for the development of tourism in ethnic minority areas.

In Lao Cai province, with more than 66% of the population being ethnic minorities including Mong, Tay, Thai, Ha Nhi..., it has created a rich and diverse treasure of cultural heritage. Therefore, Lao Cai always identifies the cultural heritage of ethnic groups as an important resource in the province's tourism development orientation. In recent years, Lao Cai province has accompanied ethnic minorities to preserve and promote the value of cultural heritages, restore lost cultural heritages, link cultural preservation with development, and contribute significantly to the goal of making tourism a key economic sector.

Quang Binh province is also one of the localities with effective methods, creating momentum for the development of tourism in ethnic minority areas. With the diversity of many ethnic groups living together, in addition to the potential of nature, Quang Binh province identifies cultural identity as the strength to create momentum for the local tourism economy. On that basis, Quang Binh has focused on investing in diversifying and improving the quality of tourism products, developing community tourism associated with festival activities, folk arts and culture, promoting traditional craft villages, and unique cultural features of ethnic groups.

According to Mr. Pham Hai Quynh, Chairman of the Vietnam Community Tourism Association, culture is the key to developing tourism in ethnic minority areas. To develop sustainable tourism, each locality must have a clear direction, choosing the cultural values characteristic of each ethnic group in conjunction with developing unique tourism products. At the same time, build a specific implementation roadmap, train human resources, build village landscapes and tourism products to meet the needs of tourists.

The Vietnam tourism development strategy to 2030 approved by the Prime Minister also emphasizes the development of cultural tourism, linking tourism development with the preservation and promotion of heritage values and national cultural identity, developing cultural tourism products, associated with the preservation and promotion of the values of cultural heritage, history and traditions of the nation; focusing on exploiting the diverse and unique culinary strengths of regions to form unique tourism products.
