Li Lianying, whose original name was Li Jinxi, was castrated and entered the palace at the age of 9. Growing up in the inner palace, Li Lianying was very skilled at winning people over. In historical records, he is mentioned as having extremely high EQ and IQ. Not only did he win the favor of Empress Dowager Cixi, but Li Lianying also earned the respect of his subordinates.
In 1908, after both Guangxu and Empress Dowager Cixi passed away, Li Lianying knew he could not remain in the Forbidden City any longer. Therefore, 100 days after Cixi's death, he voluntarily resigned, donated all the gold, silver, and jewels he had been given to Empress Dowager Longyu, and left the imperial palace.
Three years after leaving the palace, Li Lianying died at the age of 63. His death coincided with the decline of the Qing Dynasty. The emperor buried Li Lianying with the full honors of a high-ranking official and had a separate, 20-acre mausoleum built for him in Beijing. It can be said that few eunuchs received such great honor.
In 1988, archaeologists discovered the tomb of Li Lianying. Following the discovery, a team of experts urgently excavated the tomb. They uncovered numerous irregularities within Li Lianying's mausoleum.
Firstly , Li Lianying's tomb is incredibly hard. This is because the tomb walls are made of a mixture of egg whites, glutinous rice, and lime, which hardens like steel when solidified. However, because the walls are so hard, experts worry that rough excavation will damage the valuable artifacts inside.
Fortunately, while they were racking their brains trying to find another entrance, an old man nearby showed them a secret passage inside the tomb.

Secondly , Li Lianying's body was no longer intact.
Archaeologists hypothesize that during his lifetime, Li Lianying offended many people and had numerous enemies. These people only dared to seek revenge after his death. It's possible they took Li Lianying's body and hid it somewhere. To this day, experts have yet to find any remaining bones of this eunuch.
