This strange incident happened during the excavation of an ancient tomb in Hubei province, China. This incident was even evaluated by Chinese archaeologists as a unique phenomenon.
Ancient tomb over 2,000 years old
This ancient tomb was accidentally discovered by a farmer while digging in the field. He immediately reported it to the authorities. Afterwards, a team of archaeologists was sent to the scene.
The team of experts found the tomb "exposed" after the heavy rain the day before. Its surface was heavily eroded by water. From the outside, the tomb appeared to be very old. After inspection, they discovered that the ancient tomb had been "visited" by thieves.

The team of experts determined that the tomb was more than 2,000 years old. For tombs with such a long history, the archaeological team highly appreciated it. Therefore, they suggested that their superiors increase machinery and equipment to quickly access the inside of the tomb. The reason they did so was because the tomb showed signs of deterioration due to too much stagnant water. Foreign objects inside could be destroyed.
A high-powered pump came to drain all the water from the ancient tomb. Experts immediately set to work. After a thorough inspection, they found that although the tomb had been broken into by thieves, most of the cultural relics were still there. Traces of the tomb robbery showed that it had happened more than 1,000 years ago. The tomb belonged to a royal figure from the Western Han Dynasty.
However, while collecting the relics, the archaeologists encountered an unexpected situation.
"Monster" living in ancient tomb
While the group of experts were searching for artifacts, suddenly a giant turtle crawled out from the corner of the ancient tomb. This turtle was quite large. The appearance of the animal caused a debate among experts. Some people said that the turtle had lived in the ancient tomb for the past 2,000 years, others said that it had just chosen this place as its home by chance.

Many people believe that the turtle has been around for more than 2,000 years, and that it may have been the pet of the owner of this tomb. The owner of the tomb brought it along as a burial object in the tomb. Turtles have long been considered one of the four sacred animals and symbolize immortality. Perhaps that is why it appeared in an ancient tomb.
However, this hypothesis is hard to believe because turtles that can live up to a thousand years are very rare. Although turtles can live very long, their maximum lifespan is only about 200 years. Indeed, in history, there was a custom of burying live turtles in their necks, but it is impossible for them to live until today.
Currently, it is not possible to determine the age of the turtle because there are too many layers of moss on its shell. In terms of size, this turtle is quite large and has many unusual features compared to other turtles.
