Chairwoman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko also sent a letter of welcome, expressing the special interest of the Russian leadership in the event, aiming to develop and strengthen the friendship and good traditional relationship between Vietnam and Russia.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister Nguyen Van Hung said that the Vietnamese Cultural Days in the Russian Federation were organized to implement the Joint Statement on deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, towards the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2025 and especially taking place right after the official visit to Vietnam by Russian President Vladimir Putin from June 19-20.

In recent years, cultural, sports and tourism cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation has become increasingly close, effective and has achieved remarkable progress, while people-to-people exchange has been increasingly strengthened.

Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized that this is a priceless asset of the people of the two countries, the "fruition" of the long journey that the two countries and two peoples have built together.

For her part, Russian Culture Minister Olga Liubimova affirmed that Russia is pleased to welcome this major event of cultural cooperation between the two countries, which has been successfully organized many times.

In her congratulatory letter, Chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matvienko also emphasized that during the recent state visit to Vietnam by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the leaders of the two countries acknowledged and highly appreciated the two sides' regular organization of Cultural Days.

In 2024, the event will be more meaningful as it takes place before important historical holidays in 2025 such as the 80th anniversary of Russia's victory in the Great Patriotic War, the 50th anniversary of Vietnam's national reunification, and the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day.

The head of the Russian Senate also used the Vietnamese proverb "Fire tests gold, hardship tests strength" to talk about the friendship between the two peoples that is strong because it has been tested over the years.

Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized that the Vietnamese Cultural Days this time are even more important, as the two countries are preparing to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the fundamental principles of the friendly relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

He also said that cultural cooperation between the two countries will go deeper and more specifically through new areas of cooperation such as training cultural staff and artists.

On the opening night, artists from the Vietnam National Academy of Music and the Vietnam Contemporary Arts Theater presented the packed theater with a unique art program, not only imbued with traditional cultural influences.

The first part of the program included classical music performances, which are the strength of Russian music.

People's Artist Bui Cong Duy, Deputy Director of the National Academy of Music, who became famous at Traikovsky School, said that because the event is held annually, the program always needs to be renewed, so that the audience can easily feel the beauty of traditional culture as well as the creativity of Vietnamese authors.

The performances received many resounding applauses from the audience. In particular, when the Vietnamese authors combined the two colors of Russia and Vietnam with the folk performance of Xam Xoan and the cheerful Kalinka melody or the song praising the Vietnamese Fatherland followed by a famous song about Russia, the audience was completely conquered by the spiritual harmony, cultural similarity, and deep affection between the two brotherly nations of Russia and Vietnam.

The program promises to bring to Russian friends the image of a "safe, friendly, peaceful, hospitable, integrated and developing Vietnam".
