Solemn opening of the 5th Extraordinary Session, 15th National Assembly

At exactly 8:00 a.m. on January 15, the 5th extraordinary session of the 15th National Assembly solemnly opened at Dien Hong Hall, National Assembly House, Hanoi.

The opening session was broadcast live by Voice of Vietnam (VOV1), Vietnam Television (VTV1), and Vietnam National Assembly Television for voters and people nationwide to follow.

Attending the opening session were: General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; President Vo Van Thuong; former President Nguyen Xuan Phuc; Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; former National Assembly Chairmen: Nguyen Van An, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Commission Truong Thi Mai; President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien.

Leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, etc. also attended.

On the National Assembly side, there were: National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue; Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly: Tran Thanh Man, Vice Chairmen of the National Assembly: Nguyen Khac Dinh, Nguyen Duc Hai, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong...

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue delivered the opening speech of the Session.

Previously, the National Assembly held a preparatory session, listening to the following contents: Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Secretary General of the National Assembly - Head of the National Assembly Office Bui Van Cuong reported on the reception, explanation, and adjustment of the proposed program of the 5th Extraordinary Session of the 15th National Assembly; then, the National Assembly discussed and voted to approve the program of the 5th Extraordinary Session of the 15th National Assembly. Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee of the National Assembly Standing Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh presented the Report of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the dismissal of Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, a member of the National Assembly Delegation of An Giang province, from his duties as a delegate of the 15th National Assembly.

The 5th extraordinary session is expected to close on the morning of January 18, 2024. The National Assembly will take a one-day break (January 17, 2024) for the National Assembly agencies, the Government and relevant agencies to absorb, revise and complete the draft laws and draft resolutions.

At the Session, the National Assembly considered and approved 4 contents, including: Draft Law on Land (amended); Draft Law on Credit Institutions (amended); Draft Resolution on a number of specific mechanisms and policies to remove difficulties and obstacles, speed up the implementation of National Target Programs (according to simplified procedures); on supplementing the Medium-term Public Investment Plan of the central budget for the period 2021-2025 from the general reserve source corresponding to the increased revenue of the central budget in 2022 for public investment tasks and projects and supplementing the Medium-term Public Investment Plan for Vietnam Electricity Group from the reserve source of the Medium-term Public Investment Plan./.
