Opening of the Cultural and Sports Festival of Ethnic Minorities in Krong Pa District in 2025

(GLO)- On the morning of April 23, at Phu Tuc Park, the People's Committee of Krong Pa district (Gia Lai province) opened the 3rd Ethnic Minority Cultural and Sports Festival in 2025.

Attending the opening ceremony of the 3rd Cultural and Sports Festival of Ethnic Minorities in Krong Pa District in 2025 were representatives of the leaders of the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, departments, branches and organizations of the district; leaders of communes and towns along with more than 850 artisans and athletes from communes and towns throughout the district.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dang - Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, Head of the Festival Organizing Committee said: The festival is an opportunity for artisans and athletes to meet, exchange, discuss and express the cultural colors of the ethnic communities living in Krong Pa district. This year's festival has many activities related to the restoration of traditional rituals and the re-enactment of community living spaces.

In addition, along with folk music, traditional fashion shows by local groups were also of interest. Gong performance, rice pounding, weaving, sculpture, etc. continued to be familiar highlights of the event. Traditional folk sports were also organized.

“I hope that, although the time is not long, let's work together to make that heritage treasure more sparkling, so that not only artisans and managers but also the whole society can understand, love and join hands to preserve and promote the cultural capital that our ancestors have passed down,” the Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee emphasized.

According to the plan, the third cultural and sports festival of ethnic minorities in Krong Pa district will take place on April 22 and 23. On April 22, traditional sports competitions such as stick pushing, tug of war, stilt running, and crossbow shooting took place. On April 23, the festival continued with many rich and attractive activities such as: recreating traditional festivals, gong performances, folk songs and dances, performing traditional musical instruments, performing traditional crafts, street gong parades, traditional costume performances, pounding rice with a pair of pestles...

Coming to the Festival, visitors also have the opportunity to visit and shop at booths displaying many typical local products such as sun-dried beef, sun-dried pork, yellow ant salt, salt-cured chicken, honey, poultry eggs, rice, vegetables, tubers and fruits of all kinds...

As planned, the festival will close on the afternoon of April 23.

This is a practical activity to celebrate the 46th anniversary of the establishment of Krong Pa district (April 23, 1979 - April 23, 2025) and the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
