Comrade Nguyen Khac Than, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee offered incense to commemorate the National Duke, General Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan.
The national historical and cultural relic site of the A Sao family temple and wharf is the place to worship the Duke, Commander-in-Chief, Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan. The place name A Sao in the Tran Dynasty was the fief of Tran Lieu (father of Hung Dao Dai Vuong). During the resistance war against the Yuan-Mongol invaders, this place preserved the historic farewell recorded in history books. In 1288, during a campaign to fight against O Ma Nhi's army on the Bach Dang River, Tran Quoc Tuan's war elephant got stuck on the bank of the Hoa River. Everyone tried every way to pull the elephant up but failed. Tran Quoc Tuan had no choice but to swallow his tears and leave the elephant behind. The elephant looked at its commander with tears in its eyes, roared miserably, and then slowly sank into the ground. Mourning the war elephant, Tran Quoc Tuan drew his sword and pointed it at the river, vowing: "If I don't defeat the Mongols in this battle, I swear I won't return to this river!" That immortal saying is still passed down to this day, demonstrating the will, fighting spirit, and heroic spirit of Dong A.
In 2011, the relic site was granted a certificate of national historical and cultural relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. By 2015, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism had included the traditional festival of A Sao Temple in the list of national intangible cultural heritage, becoming a spiritual tourist destination attracting a large number of visitors, contributing to the development of the local economy, culture and society.
After the incense offering ceremony in memory of General Tran Quoc Tuan at the main hall, delegates attended the opening ceremony of the traditional festival and enjoyed the drum performance.
The 2024 A Sao Temple Traditional Festival takes place from March 19 to 21. In addition to traditional ritual activities, there are also cultural activities, folk games such as tug of war, rice cake pounding competition... and art performances.
