Ritual of worshiping Queen Mother Ngo Thi Ngoc Dao.
Queen Mother Ngo Thi Ngoc Dao was the daughter of Ngo Tu. She was a person who contributed to the three emperors of the Le dynasty, especially the person who had a great influence on the life, personality, merit and career of Le Thanh Tong, one of the most brilliant kings in the history of Vietnamese feudal dynasties.
According to legend, during her lifetime, Queen Mother Ngo Thi Ngoc Dao often returned to pay respects at the mausoleum (Lam Kinh) and offered incense at her maternal home (Dong Phang). To make it convenient for the Queen Mother to have a place to rest each time she returned to her maternal home, King Le Thanh Tong had the Thua Hoa Palace built here. In February of the year Binh Thin (1496), after visiting the ancestral mausoleum, the Queen Mother unfortunately fell ill and passed away on February 26 (intercalary day), at the age of 76. Since then, Thua Hoa Palace was changed to the Temple of the Holy Mother, later popularly known as Phu Nhi, located in the complex of the national historical relic site of Thua Hoa Palace and Phuc Quang Temple.
In 2016, the Thua Hoa Temple and Phuc Quang Temple relic complex were recognized as national historical relics.
This year's Phu Nhi Festival is held from April 17 to 23 (March 20 to 26 of the lunar calendar) with rituals, incense and flower offerings, decorative trays, and cultural exchanges between cultural villages.
Through the festival, we aim to promote and educate the tradition of patriotism, pride of the homeland; the merits and virtues of Queen Mother Ngo Thi Ngoc Dao.
