Phong Luu Khau Vai Market has a history of more than 100 years. This is not just a market but also a place to preserve poetic love stories of the highland people. The market is considered a unique activity of Ha Giang, because the market only meets once a year on the 27th day of the third lunar month. On June 24, 2021, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued a Decision to include the Social Customs and Beliefs of Phong Luu Khau Vai Market in the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

This year, Phong Luu Khau Vai Market Festival is organized by Meo Vac district from April 22 to 24 at the provincial level. Within the framework of the festival, there will be many unique and attractive activities such as: pole climbing competition to conquer love, throwing con to exchange love, throwing pao, fighting swallows, shooting crossbows, pounding sticky rice cakes. Performances of Mong flute playing, fire dancing of Lo Lo ethnic group, drum dancing of Giay ethnic group, folk singing of Nung ethnic group, and love duet singing.

In addition, there are many activities for tourists to learn, visit and experience such as: Taking souvenir photos at the flower fields in the Stone Maze area; learning about the incense offering ceremony at Ong and Ba temples; visiting the Mong ethnic cultural and tourism village in Pa Vi Ha village; taking a boat trip on Nho Que river; conquering the white cliffs; enjoying traditional cuisine of indigenous peoples...

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vuong Ngoc Ha emphasized: Phong Luu Khau Vai Market is not only a unique tourist destination but also a cultural symbol rich in humanity of the ethnic communities in Ha Giang province. Organizing the annual festival aims to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values ​​of the ethnic people in the province; at the same time, creating unique and attractive tourism products, promoting the development of the province's tourism industry; making Ha Giang tourism a symbol of a safe, attractive destination with rich national cultural identity.

After the opening ceremony, a special art program with the theme “Khau Vai Day of Return” took place. The program brought the audience many attractive performances, elaborately and magnificently staged, recreating the legendary love story of a Nung man and a Giay girl – a symbol of loyalty and depth in love in the land of blooming rocks.
