The contest is organized to introduce and promote the value of intangible cultural heritage, customs, traditional festivals, folk songs, folk dances, costumes, and cuisine of Vietnamese ethnic groups. At the same time, the event also affirms the belief of ethnic people in the leadership of the Party and State, arouses the aspiration to develop the country and promote the strength of national solidarity.
Leaders of Quang Ngai province and the Department of Grassroots Culture - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented flowers to representatives of 24 delegations attending the contest.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Huy, Deputy Director of the Department of Grassroots Culture, emphasized the importance of protecting and promoting the value of cultural heritage in the process of building and developing the country. Mr. Huy said that the work of preserving and promoting cultural heritage has achieved many successes, contributing to the building and development of Vietnamese culture, and at the same time contributing to the world's cultural heritage treasure.
Currently, the country has thousands of intangible cultural heritages preserved, many of which have been recognized by UNESCO or listed in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List. Many traditional festivals are maintained, associated with customs, performing arts, culinary culture and traditional costumes.
Ms. Huynh Thi Suong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai province, is proud that the locality has many types of folk performances that are preserved and developed. Quang Ngai owns the arts of Bài chòi, folk songs, lullabies, Bả trao, Hỏ thai, folk opera in the coastal and delta regions; and the folk performing arts of the Hrê, Cor, and Ca dong people in the mountainous regions.
The Co Tu ethnic group in Quang Nam province brings to the festival a model of a Guol house.
Ms. Suong hopes that the delegates, artists and actors will have beautiful memories when participating in the contest in Quang Ngai, the homeland of An mountain - Tra river.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the delegations began the national costume and folk performance competitions. The competitions: traditional ritual and culinary performances, folk song and dance performances and national costumes will take place from August 2-3, 2024. The competition will end on August 4, 2024.
