On August 5, at the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE - Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province), the opening ceremony of the international conference on the topic "Searching for Axion Particles" took place. The conference took place over 5 days, with the participation of more than 50 experts, scientists and postgraduates from 19 countries and territories.
This is a very new and groundbreaking event in the development of High Energy Physics and Cosmology, co-organized by the Vietnam Rencontres du Vietnam in collaboration with the Hubert Curien Interdisciplinary Institute (IPHC, France), the STRONG2020 Project (Europe) and the Axion Research Center and High Precision Measurement Physics of the Institute of Basic Sciences (IBS-CAPP).
At the event, Professor Tran Thanh Van, Chairman of the Vietnam Science Association, shared that the Axion particle is one of the top mysteries in physics today. The Axion particle was first mentioned as a type of elementary particle in 1997 by physicist Peccei-Quinn. Particle physicists expect that if this particle is found and identified, it will be possible to find clues to dark matter in the universe that scientists have been searching for and proving for nearly 100 years.
Through the conference, scientists will present over 50 plenary papers, related to topics such as: CP symmetry issues in strong interactions and Axion models; cosmology with Axions; searching for Axions from galaxies using haloscopes and other antennas; searching for Axions from the Sun using telescopes and underground detectors; searching for Axion-like particles using particle accelerators; searching at low energy levels for Axion-like particles, the fifth force and the phenomenon of light passing through walls... In addition, speakers will also present and discuss the latest research and experimental results. The results from the conference will guide researchers to the right and closest path to mobilize the world's Particle Physics community to hunt for Axions.
In particular, the conference pays attention to new research and young researchers, the next generation. They are given priority to present and discuss their issues and have the opportunity to find connections and cooperate with professors and leading scientists to shape their research path," added Professor Tran Thanh Van.
On the morning of August 5, in Dong Hoi City (Quang Binh Province), Ho Chi Minh City National University organized the 5th International Conference on Advanced Magnetic Materials and Applications (ISAMMA 2024). The conference attracted 315 leading scientists, businesses, and scholars from Asia and the world from 20 countries and territories, including 180 scientists from Japan, Korea, Russia, China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, India, Singapore, Thailand, Spain, Sweden, the Philippines, etc.
With the theme of innovation and connection with businesses, especially interested in promoting efforts to create social value from innovation inspiration, at the conference, scientists exchanged new research on advanced magnetic materials, spintronics, emerging magnetic materials, semiconductor technology, artificial intelligence for renewable energy and applications of nano-biomagnetism in human health care. According to Professor Nguyen Huu Duc, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Magnetic Physics, ISAMMA 2024 not only has the highest scientific value but is also an event to promote the spirit of integration and equal cooperation of Vietnamese science with the scientific community in the continent and the world. This is an opportunity to promote and accelerate research and application of magnetic materials for Vietnamese industry.
On August 5, the 2024 International Summer School of Physics and Mathematics opened at the University of Education (Hue University). The summer school was organized by the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) and the University of Education (Hue University), taking place from August 5 to 10.
This year's summer school includes 4 short courses, 1 public lecture, along with a number of reports and scientific discussions. The summer school attracted 70 participants from 15 countries, including 30 from abroad. Thereby, connecting young researchers and students with passion for Physics and Mathematics to contribute to promoting the development of these fields in Vietnam and Asia. Dr. Le Ho Son, Rector of the University of Education (Hue University) said that the International Summer School of Physics and Mathematics was initiated by Professor Phan Thanh Nam at LMU Munich University, Germany and is co-organized annually by VIASM and partners, within the framework of the National Key Program for the Development of Mathematics for the period 2021-2030.
