This is an annual event for Vietnamese tourism businesses, organized by the Vietnam Tourism Association since 2013, and has become one of the major tourism events in Vietnam.
According to Cao Thi Ngoc Lan, Vice President of the Vietnam Tourism Association, the theme "Developing Green Destinations – Elevating Vietnamese Tourism" at the VITM Hanoi 2025 fair aims to focus on developing Vietnamese tourist destinations that achieve the "green tourism" title, contributing to enhancing the brand of Vietnamese tourism in terms of environmental protection, security, safety, and attractiveness for tourists. Activities at the fair contribute to encouraging localities and tourism businesses to focus on building green destinations and green tourism products, training a workforce with knowledge of green tourism, and promoting green initiatives to help elevate Vietnamese tourism and soon make it a green economic sector of Vietnam. At the fair, several achievements in digital transformation, especially the application of artificial intelligence and the use of robots in the tourism and service sectors, were also introduced to prepare for the digital transformation movement in Vietnamese tourism.

As the venue for the VITM Hanoi 2025 trade fair, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen stated that Hanoi is not only the national political and administrative center but also one of the most important tourist destinations in Vietnam. The city possesses a rich system of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, a distinctive urban space, sophisticated cuisine, and elegant, hospitable people.
As a crucial transportation hub, especially as an international aviation center with Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi serves as a gateway for receiving and distributing domestic and international tourists, effectively connecting key tourist regions across the country. The city also hosts numerous regional and international cultural and tourism events.

“In its development strategy, Hanoi identifies tourism as a key economic sector; focusing on promoting digital transformation, developing distinctive tourism products such as cultural tourism, green tourism, and creative tourism; while simultaneously enhancing competitiveness and service quality to build Hanoi into a ‘safe - friendly - high-quality - attractive’ destination. The city is committed to working alongside the business community, international organizations, and localities nationwide in expanding cooperation, attracting investment, and developing sustainable and effective tourism,” Mr. Nguyen Manh Quyen emphasized.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy said that the theme of the Fair, "Developing Green Destinations - Elevating Vietnamese Tourism," reflects the high determination and great efforts of the Association and Vietnamese tourism businesses in implementing the green transformation strategy, bringing Vietnamese tourism to a new level. Over the years, the tourism industry has always received close attention and guidance from the Party and the State. A series of policies and guidelines have created favorable conditions for the tourism industry's recovery and development, especially Directive No. 08/CT-TTg dated February 23, 2024, of the Prime Minister on "Comprehensive, rapid and sustainable tourism development in the coming period," which has been strongly implemented nationwide and achieved impressive results.

Ms. Trinh Thi Thuy also highly appreciated the efforts of tourism businesses in overcoming difficulties, developing the workforce, expanding markets, building new products, and boosting promotion and marketing, which have helped tourism businesses recover and thrive. The number of domestic tourists in 2024 far exceeded that of 2019, and the number of international tourists grew at a leading rate in the region, reaching a record high for 2019. Particularly in the first quarter of 2025, the number of international visitors to Vietnam reached over 6 million, an increase of 29.6% compared to the same period, the highest level ever. These results have opened a new phase of development for Vietnamese tourism.
The VITM 2025 International Tourism Fair features 450 booths, with the participation of over 700 businesses from 54 provinces and cities of Vietnam, and 16 countries and territories.
Throughout the four days of the fair, numerous activities organized by the Vietnam Tourism Association, provincial and city tourism organizations, and businesses took place, including: introducing attractive tour programs and tours; various business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) networking events; tourism promotion activities organized by Vietnamese and international tourism promotion agencies, showcasing tourism products, destinations, stimulus packages, new tourism technologies and trends; and promoting tourism programs and events of localities, businesses, and destinations both domestically and internationally.
The highlight of the specialized events at VITM Hanoi 2025 is the Forum “Developing Green Tourism Destinations - Elevating Vietnamese Tourism…”
