The VPBank Hanoi International Marathon 2024 (VPIM) will officially kick off in the early morning of October 13 with the participation of 11,000 athletes from 20 countries and territories. This is a key sporting event to celebrate the liberation of the capital on October 10 and is the opening event for the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2024 with the theme "Creative Crossroads".

Sharing at the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Pham Xuan Tai - Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports emphasized: "The Hanoi - VPBank International Marathon 2024 surpasses the limits of a traditional running race to become a large-scale, impressive sports and arts festival, contributing to affirming Hanoi's position as a pioneer in the role of "creative conductor" of Vietnam. The image of 11,000 athletes walking together, experiencing the running route with the intersection of the "Creative Intersection" within the framework of the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2024 will spread a spirit full of positive energy and rich in emotions. These activities will help strongly spread the image of Hanoi "Cultured - Civilized - Modern", a globally connected city; a "Safe - Friendly - Attractive" destination to international friends".
The special feature of this year’s tournament is that the athletes will run with music in the middle of Hanoi’s autumn. The opening music night on the evening of October 11 is the musical stage that opens an emotional musical sports event with the participation of 3 young singers Anh Tu, RHYDER and My My. Throughout the race, there will be 3 more music stations with a variety of music genres such as violin and saxophone or acoustic melodies.

As a non-profit race, all revenue from the race is invested in the quality of the race with a focus on runners, while contributing to charity and social security activities. Each registered athlete contributed 30,000 VND to the program series 'Couple of loving leaves - I am happy to go to school' implemented by VPBank in collaboration with VTV. At the opening ceremony of the race, the VPIM Organizing Committee also donated 330 million VND to this organization.

VPIM 2024 has 4 distances of 42km, 21km, 10km and 5km, starting from Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square - a famous cultural and tourist destination on Hoan Kiem Lake walking street and ending at Thien Quang walking street - Thong Nhat Park gate. The entire running route is measured, built with lighting, security and medical plans standardized according to international standards by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).
The race is operated by VnExpress Marathon - the owner of the largest running series in Vietnam with experience in organizing professional races and leading technologies. The organizing committee has arranged 25 water stations, 18 fixed medical stations, 7 mobile teams and 6 ambulances along the race route to ensure timely response to any emergency situations.
VPIM 2024 brings together 100 photographers to participate in the work, the largest number ever, to fully capture the moments of the athletes on the track.
VPIM 2024 has a prize system with 122 prizes worth a total of more than 2 billion VND. Of which, the cash prize is up to nearly 800 million VND along with many valuable gifts, considered one of the races with the largest cash prizes ever.
