General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping attended the Opening Ceremony and declared the 31st Summer Universiade officially open.

The opening ceremony of the 31st Summer Universiade was brief, lasting 100 minutes, emphasizing the return of traditional rituals and the essence of sports. Throughout the opening ceremony, the symbol of Chinese cultural heritage - the image of the 12-tailed gilded Sun Bird - was displayed.

The Games bring together athletes from 113 countries and regions around the world. Athletes will compete in 18 sports, divided into 269 events.

To prepare for this sports festival, Chengdu has built 13 new stadiums, with the participation of 139,000 volunteers deployed at competition venues as well as public places in the city.

The Vietnamese student sports delegation participating in the 31st World University Games consists of 12 members, including officials, coaches, referees and student athletes from Ho Chi Minh City University of Physical Education and Sports, Ton Duc Thang University and Hanoi University of Physical Education and Sports. The athletes will compete in two sports: Athletics and Taekwondo.
