Attending the congress were Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Dong Huy Cuong; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation Le Van Dung; Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission Huynh Thi Thuy Dung, together with leaders of the People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, National Assembly Delegation of the province, departments, branches and sectors; leaders of the Provincial Union through the terms and representatives of consulates general and international organizations.
Speaking at the opening of the congress, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan - Chairman of the Provincial Union emphasized: This congress is a milestone marking a new development step in the province's people's foreign affairs activities with the requirement to continue to innovate and improve the effectiveness of the Union and its member organizations in the coming time with the theme "Solidarity, innovation, creativity, promoting people's foreign affairs work to contribute to the development of Quang Nam".
According to Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, in recent years, the world situation has changed rapidly, complicatedly and unpredictably, fierce competition between major countries, negative impacts of war, epidemics and the influence of the fourth industrial revolution have had a significant impact on people's movements in countries and people's patriotic activities.
In that context, the Provincial Union and its member organizations have made great efforts to implement the activities of the People's Union, achieving important results in the fields of economic development, cultural exchange, education, international cooperation, contributing to the good implementation of social security work, the socio-economic development tasks of the province, enhancing understanding, solidarity, friendship, cooperation and development between the people of Quang Nam province and the people of other countries, diplomatic agencies and foreign non-governmental organizations.
In the new situation, opportunities and challenges are intertwined, posing new requirements and new tasks for the People's Public Security work of the province. This congress is held to jointly recognize and evaluate objectively and comprehensively the achieved results as well as the remaining limitations and weaknesses, and from there draw lessons from practical activities for the People's Public Security work of the Union in the past term.
At the same time, it sets out directions, tasks and solutions for the 2024 - 2029 term to continue self-renewal, aiming to create a strong change in awareness and action towards the work of the People's Council in the province, improving the operational efficiency of the Union and its member organizations in the coming time.
The Congress will also amend the Provincial Union Charter to suit the requirements of the new period, especially in the spirit of Directive 38 of the Secretariat "on continuing to innovate, promote the role and improve the quality and efficiency of the activities of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations in the new situation", and Directive 12 of the Secretariat "on strengthening the Party's leadership and improving the efficiency of the People's Union in the new situation".
