Under the sacred national flag, journalist Nguyen Ngoc Toan, Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien newspaper, said that over the years, the movement of practicing sports cycling has developed strongly. However, a large-scale tournament has not been organized in this land. That is also the reason why the idea of "Cycling Festival for Peace" was born. But more than that, it is hoped that the festival will honor the value of peace, commemoration, gratitude and an opportunity to introduce some typical historical relics in the province; Introduce and promote the image, culture, land and people of Quang Tri to people across the country and abroad.

“Your presence here today proves the appeal and charm of the Cycling for Peace Festival, which is a joy for organizers like us, Quang Tri province and sponsors. We hope that the peaceful cycles will continue to spin, sending out strong messages of peace, for the desire for peace to last forever, so that humanity can live in prosperity, peace and happiness...”, emphasized journalist Nguyen Ngoc Toan.

With those expectations, when the bicycles of the cycling parade roll on the morning of June 29, the ideas and messages of peace that the Organizing Committee wants to convey will be integrated and expressed through each destination and each activity at the destinations.

In which, with Parallel 17 - Hien Luong Bridge - Ben Hai River, the opening place of the event is also the place that marks the pain of the country's division for more than 20 years (1954-1975). This is not only a place of gratitude but also an embodiment, a place where the aspirations for peace and national unity converge. This place is worthy of being the starting point for the Cycling Festival for Peace. Here, when the parade of 600 athletes passes through the old Hien Luong Bridge, the delegates will release doves, while the students will release balloons into the blue sky, praying for peace.

Next, the delegation will participate in a cycling parade from here to Truong Son National Martyrs Cemetery (Gio Linh District) and end at Fidel Park (Dong Ha City). At Truong Son National Martyrs Cemetery, the delegation will burn incense to pay tribute to heroic martyrs, and give gifts to families with revolutionary contributions and students in difficult circumstances.

Finally, at Fidel Park, athletes and delegates will be able to sign and write messages on the festival's symbolic flag. The 54 square meter flag (representing the 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam) features the main symbolic motifs of a dove holding a rice flower, representing the desire for peace, prosperity and happiness, along with a multi-colored silk ribbon: red and yellow symbolizing the national flag; red is also the color of the blood of the heroes and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for peace today; blue is the color of peace, the color of life reviving and developing. And this flag will be sent to the UNESCO National Commission, as a message from peace lovers.
